Update: I think deoxit will help with the rotation. I’m trying to move the circuit so I can access the splits in the pots and spray deoxit.

I removed the knobs, nuts, washers, control plate and the output jack nut and washer. Tried to lower the pots through the holes so I could move the circuit and get access to the split in each pot. No luck. The pots won’t fall through even with a nudge. Any suggestions?

I could just spray deoxit from outside the body where the pot shafts meet the bushing but spraying into the split (on the cavity side) is more effective.

I understand your dilemma. My two finalists when I bought the Hybrid were the SRD900F and the hybrid. The reason I was looking at the 900 series instead of the 700 was the p'ups and the preamp differences. The Barts on the 700 series are meh. I actually prefer the board on the 700, with no fret lines except at the edges, to the 900 which has ghost lines. Both those basses have 30 positions.

IMO, you don't need a line at every position. Dots at 1,3,5,7,9,12, etc. suffice. Once you get used to fretless you will see the board clearly with all positions as long as you can see these dots. Lines actually confuse that ability to project the image of the board, at least that's my experience.

Another thing, is that the Ibanez 700 and 900 have Panga boards, with a coating. They are harder than the Pau Ferro on the hybrid, and have a different tone. I have the same board as is on the 900 on my SR1350B, just with frets. The necks however are different.

The preamp on the hybrid is at least twice as good as the one on either of the Ibanez, in terms of producing usable tones that sound good. I don't even use the active settings on my SR1350B for this reason. Sounds better in passive. Many people who play the 700 and 900 say they only use the piezo.

Weight is a definite plus for the Ibanez, I won't dispute that. At least a pound and a half lighter.

Regarding 30 positions, you can only reach the ones above 24 by going to thumb position, or "over the top" of the board. If you are an upright player that's not an issue. For a regular EB player, it is not an easy thing to master. Personally, I mostly use up to 17, sometimes to 19. Rarely go above that. Once you get above 15 or so the fingerboard is a minefield of potentially bad notes, until you get very proficient on fretless.

I picked this up a couple weeks ago dirt cheap and honestly bought it with the intentions to flip or give to a family member as I do not need another bass. But, something about this bass is making it hard to get rid of... sounds great, plays great, low action. previous owner must have applied the "road worn" look to the body, also has new J bass pup from previous owner. The neck pickup if great for the reggae/dub tunes I jam too, and the middle position gives great rock tones.
I put in a new switch, pots and output jack. The 32" scale is really comfortable as well. Anyone have any experience with these? I keep listing it to sell and them change my mind once I play it again... the struggle...

Anyone know what these might be worth? It seems like some of the squier TB models go from anywhere between $300-$500. Not sure what to think.

Rotosound 66, I used to use the RS66LD but now RS66LC. Maybe I'll also use Dean Markleys before they all run out of stock. Sometimes I buy a bass with the expectation of what strings to use (often flatwounds), though.

The driver for my move to very lightweight cabs was the damage I did to my back after years of carrying 2 x 90lb Mesa Boogie cabs. Without that problem I'd never have found Bergs. Then, when I needed to go even lighter Barefaced had just started.

Jim Bergantino really does engineer world class cabs, as does Alex at Barefaced. I consider myself very lucky to be playing at a time when those guys are active in the bass gear market.

Yeah, I cancelled my dispute only once I had the product in hand, but now I have an extra because I got a replacement from a third party (in London! To Honolulu!) while I was waiting. I’d love to just go through dealers but if they’re having stock issues as well…

As of the recent update you can have 126 scenes and set it so pressing 2 footswitches together will scroll up or down through them.

Then if you toggle between scene and stomp mode you get 3 stomps/macros

So the problem with v1 tubes was in the tube socket. Metal bits that are soldered to PCB were bended to match the holes in the socket. The first and the last ones weren’t bended exactly at 90 degrees which put stress on pins 1 and 9 of the tubes, which in turn passed on to the glass. Then with heating and cooling the glass eventually broke near these two pins. I had the socket replaced, hopefully it will be fine now.

The final-Final version is expected to have the carrying handle shifted up about 4” and a grab-handle installed just above the shoulder straps. And all stitching, hardware, strap materials… it’s all top-shelf stuff. Very please!

I bought this from Scratch.it. You receive a pdf to print to compare the dimensions, including holes position with the original plate. If you are carefull while doing it (printing at the proper scale, etc), and they explain you how to do, this is pretty easy. The result is good. The printing is not pixelized, but I assume it will also depend on the resolution of the picture you want them to print.

I forgot the name of the contact, but he was super friendly and responded quickly. Yes I recommend!

I love me a bit of home spun luthiery! My favourite part is stabbing that rolly little sucker inside the bass with the setting tool.

I know this post is approaching 20 years old, but is it still possible to get in touch with Don? I have an LDS cabinet and I need some help with it.

Differences in the instruments aside, they will both sound like YOU playing them. How different can they be ? If you want them to sound noticeably different, you may have to approach them differently.

Give me just about any bass and any amp and about 5 minutes, and it'll sound like me.

Just a quick update; I dropped off my Dimension Projekt bass to my local guitar tech. He's giving the routes a little "haircut" so I can install the new pickups. I'm hoping to get some serious work done on it this weekend. It all depends on how busy life gets.

I had the circa 2009 classic Fiesta red P but stupidly sold it. years ago

Now I have this one, a '23 bought used. The electronics were wonky so I had them replaced along with a new pickguard. I like it except it is heavier than I'd like it to be, about 9.5 pounds. I bought it used online without checking the weight. I might go for ultralite tuners and am considering an upgrade to the pickup but there are too many choices so I'm standing pat for now. I tried the pickup and bridge covers but they added too much weight.

It got me to gett off my rear to finish a few projects. Will be aiming for a super light bass without neckdive.

I put on LaBella tape wounds, short scale. I ended up cutting off the ball end silk on the E string to reduce the bulk at the bridge. They barely clear the nut but the medium scale strings seem too long. Nice, mellow sound.

I'd given up on building for a while, with all the toddler drama that was going on. Then, two friends died last month.
I figure it'd be my reminder to get off my ass and get to building.

I'm planning on making a laminated neck black with port orford cedar, and doing something like Sebastien Gavret's dragonfly bass:

It's a bit ambitious, but I figure that I'll at least have something that be like a Steinberger with wings.
