In all seriousness, make time for yourself and your bass playing. Perhaps even involve your kids and teach them about music. They might just take up an interest in bass or another instrument. You might get a family band going or become your kids' band manager?

My dad showed me this song (and introduced me to Harold Melvin & The Blue Notes) when I was a kid. I never made the connection between it and "unce" music until just now!

I'm a dancin groovin bassist. I guess they like it because my band put me front and center on the stage lol. (The singer to my right and guitarist to my left.) I like to interact with the crowd.

I'm looking for tuning machine replacement suggestions for either the single part or a new set. I kicked my bass over at practice last week and broke one of it's original tuning machines. What would you do? From what I've read online these parts are discontinued. Here is what I know about the part and I've posted a couple photos as well. Note there are no mounting screws for this type.

Late to this thread but ran into the same issue archiving old Voice Memo recordings. If you're on someone else's machine and can't install Audacity, AhaConvert does m4a to wav right in the browser, no install needed. It won't magically add quality back since the source is still AAC, but at least you get a properly readable wav your DAW won't choke on. Free, and it auto-deletes the files after, which is nice if you're converting stuff off a work computer.

I popped in a Will power. This still gets the thud with the tone rolled off but has a more “normal” tone with midrange content with it up. ymmv

Heads up — WAV to MIDI isn't really a "convert the file" thing, it's audio-to-MIDI transcription, so the tool has to listen to the waveform and guess the notes, accuracy depends a lot on how clean/monophonic the track is.
For that step: Spotify's Basic Pitch is free, browser-based, no install. Ableton's got a built-in audio-to-MIDI feature if you have it. Melodyne's the gold standard but it's paid.
Once you've got a MIDI file, MuseScore (free) will import it straight into standard notation, that's probably your easiest path for the sheet music half.
If converters aren't even recognizing the file, it might not be a standard WAV, could be some BITB-specific variant or weird sample rate/bit depth. I'd check that first since it sounds like the real bottleneck.

I usually just run through old HDDs with a drill a few times. Works well.

Sounds like an ID3 tag issue, not a missing-info issue. Spotify's pickier than VLC/Poweramp about which ID3v2 version it'll actually read — some encoders write v2.4, Spotify wants v2.3, and it just falls back to the filename instead of erroring out. Given the files came from different years/tools, that'd explain why only some are broken.
On Ubuntu I'd try Kid3 (sudo apt install kid3) — has a batch mode so you can convert the whole folder to ID3v2.3 in one shot instead of digging through each file.

I see, you mean that the adhesive migrates even though the wood around the joint is stable. I thought that you meant the adhesive was moving with the wood, which would just be flexing. My bad. I misunderstood the term.

After working with legit Speakons for a long time you can kind of "feel" the real thing other are such a bad attempt at a knock off you can spot it a mile away.
If outside looks legit enough to pass inspection looking at the inside is were you can tell.

Need to start a topic on knock off microphones!!!! I'm going to guess 30% of everyone here has at least one a knock off SM58.

This is very true, and differences in pickups, and other sonic subtleties also become inaudible with distortion.

Iem and using my preamp pedals have been my go to for years now. I had a cab and head but got rid of it because I haven’t plugged in for years. The sound quality is good enough now that I don’t really need it.

Big waves (lower frequencies) need bigger cabs than smaller waves (higher frequencies)... and higher frequencies can get away with smaller cabs. Distortion - higher frequencies. Smaller cab on top.

I get your point, and I agree that is the conventional way. I think most players look for a full bodied clean tone with added spice, and that makes sense. I'm not that sensible.

I already have the tone I'm looking for, more or less. It's a fat, mid heavy, overdriven tone with a solid low end (it goes through two tube overdrives). I just want to add a pinch of clean spice to it. The Ashdown 410 does that, but not very well. It's a dull, lifeless, boomy cab with a hollow sound to it in this setup. Might sound great to someone else in a different room with different gear!

My theory is that a good 210 will offer a tighter experience for what I'm after - a (relatively) subtle clean boost in lows/low mids. Maybe cut most of the highs for emphasis? Could have been a 112 or a 212, but I do like 10s. Especially Barefaced 10s. Also, it will never come close to the volume coming out of the 610.

Anyway, I appreciate the input, just felt the need to clarify. Progress is never a result of doing stuff the conventional way. (Then again, it's by no means a given that this will equate to progress.)
