GK Plex or TE Elf as a gig backup

I'm gonna vote ELF as it's my main gigging amp now. Sounds great, reliable, and makes sound guys go "huh?" I actually did a gig this winter where the backline was supplied -- and it was an ELF 1X10/2X8 stack!!!! First time I got to hear it live: the other bassist was played a Fender Fiver --...

Aguilar th350 or EBS Reidmar 250

I've been gigging the Reidmar 250 for more than 5 years. Great amp. Plenty of power (for me). It sounds like EBS, though. Aggies are different. More "vintage" tone to my ears. I hear the Reidmar as being more neutral. Great EQ section.

    G****r through a bass amp?

I use my Trace Elf and 1x10 (with a reverb pedal) for g****r gigs and rehearsals all the time. Jazz. So I like the clean.

    Trace Elliot ELF

I'm running the Elf + Elf 2x10s. When I first got it, I assumed putting the rigs on a box would be the best -- because I always did that. However, I find the 10-degree angle of the driver gives me the best sound directly on the floor. So play around with that. I think you will find that it gives...

Favorite TRACE Amp of all time -

As a former owner of V6 and V300H amps, which were gigged for many years, that's my fave TE tone. That said, I now own an ELF stack with 2 x 10 ELF bins. I like it very much and have used it in a number of style settings and found it to be a really good rig. Whatever tone that you've baked into...

Anyone Try the Trace Elliott Elf 1x10 Cab?

I just got a 2x10 micro stack. I play 4-string. The low E sounds authoritative and fine. The weight is mind-blowing. The Elf amp has got that TE tone. No gigs on it yet :)

    Eden Terra Nova amps...Any Reports?

Oh, god. Rat fur. That's depressing. Amp looks cool, though!

    Hendriksen 312 Inquiry

Pay no attention to the man behind the nasty red chicken. I think the 312 looks pretty cool. But I haven't heard one, so . . .

Show Off Your Sound City Amp!

The Sound City Bass 150 was my favorite amp ever. Tone-wise. Not so much weight-wise. From the lowest volume small gigs to bigger rooms, it never failed to sound less than excellent. Warm, fat, rich, clear. I just couldn't lug it around anymore. If someone could put that sound in a small amp...

    New gear from Acoustic

Let's just say I disagree. I think a 600-watt amp should be quite capable of driving a couple of cabs. And my knickers are fine. Thanks for your concern :-)

    New gear from Acoustic

Ok. What am I missing? The 300 and the 600 amps have only one speakon connector. The speakers have only one speakon connector. Really? I'm going to build a rig with two bins and one speakon and one quarter-inch speaker cable? At least the photos on MF indicate this. Maybe I'm overlooking...

    Rat fur?? Why?

Rat fur puts equipment on my automatic DO NOT BUY list. I have enough of it -- and the Trace stuff is pretty good as far as that goes. Which is not far.

    Ashdown Retroglide 800 Bass Amp

According to the Sweetwater site, they're in stock! The whole concept of this amp is perfect for me: Small. Simple. Powerful. Good company, too.

    Peavey MiniMega 1000

I see the new 1-12 and 2-12 cabs are covered in rat fur. So those are out. Plus they're heavy as hell. 75 lbs for the 2-12? I don't think so. Sorry Peavey. I was hoping . . .

    Yamaha B100-III

I have rehearsed for many years on a B100-II and I love it. I think the only difference is the preamp section. The III has the parametric eq. It's a good, practical, reliable, toneful amp. I'd call it a "real" 100 watts. I'd say clean it up. It's probably worth about $150-$200 in good shape. As...
