Fender American Standard Jazz 5 Black/Black/Maple Perhaps a 2008, I haven't tried it yet, I really like the S1 switch on the 5er though.

Actually it also depends on what kind of punk you're talking about. If you're talking about the "classical" punk sound go fat, lots of bass and lose some of the mids. If you're talking about a more gritty punk so, you could try dropping the bass (even to 0) and raising the mids and treble(even...

I think I know what you mean, on low volume everything sounds thin, but if you crank it up, it starts sounder better, but unfortunatly, that's too loud to play in a bedroom.

The Skylines have a very good name, Invalid Link Removed page is about the differences between them. Also, if you don't like active basses, you might wanna try a Fender American Jazz 2008, they have passive electronics and seem to be of high quality.

I'm going for two, the slap gave it away the last time on the Markbass/SWR/Ampeg comparison. And 2 sounded a bit deeper to me. But I have to say, it's so close, if even us bassists have a hard time telling the different after numerous tries, that Tech 21 VT is pretty awesome. I'm buying it...

Well, IMO, dead notes are the x's by plucking a note while putting my finger on the string while not pushing it in. While I play ghost notes by either gently pushing in the string above the appropriate fret or pluck very gently, so you don't get the full sound of a regular pluck.

Since you're going all black, yes on the black tuners. and +1 on the black control plate, you might even consider a black pickguard, but it might become overkill... Just my $0.02

I'm just guessing on the first two, but the lows on the third sound kind of they are forcing their limit, like the LMII. And I chose the second as the SWR for it having a more "clear" sound, mind you, the only amp I ever owned is my practice amp :p 1:B-15 2:SWR 3:LMII
