    Dressing well and dancing

Yes, but if you want people to come and watch you, you'd damn well better be both. If you don't want to be an entertainer, stay in your bedroom.

    Looking for a beginner e-bass :)

When you do this, make sure all the tone knobs etc are set flat / to 0 / in the middle, so you can hear the actual sound of the bass and make it easier to compare.

Is the Aguilar Tone Hammer overlooked?

I just bought a ToneHammer yesterday. I went into the shop to try a paradriver and a VTDI side by side and spent a long time tweaking these trying to find the sound I wanted. I was sure the para would give me the right sound if I spent long enough with it, but nothing seemed quite right. I've...

Y'all ever hear of Child Abuse?

I'm all for being edgy, pushing boundaries, making people uncomfortable etc etc, and I've done the punk shock thing and have no problems with any of the other names mentioned above by people defending this. But there are certain places you just don't go. There's a massive difference between...

So Now I am the Band leader!! Whats next?

:D While we may be awesome, we're far too old to ever make any serious money out of this - gig fees go back into the band to pay for recording etc, I'm assuming that we're all too good mates to screw each other - and I'm too old to be naive!! :eyebrow:

Simplest Song You Just Can't Play?

I used to play in a ZZ Top tribute band. Both Sharp dressed man and Gimme all your lovin are pretty much 1 note over and over with a sudden change for the chorus. Not complicated but very easy to mess up. I always used to think of it as a bit like being a goalkeeper for a really good football...

So Now I am the Band leader!! Whats next?

Don't get defensive, what might be right for me may not be right for you. You're right I wouldn't particularly like this style of band for what I do, but you're stretching things if you're trying to say I'm rubbishing the whole concept. My main point is I'm interested in people's experiences of...

So Now I am the Band leader!! Whats next?

I am really struggling to understand this whole 'bandleader' thing. I've been in bands for the last 20 years and never heard of the concept until i saw it on this forum - maybe it's an american thing? All the bands I've been in were 'co-operative' bands. We all knew who was good at booking gigs...

    Nordstrand + Audere coil tap

Thanks for your answers! I've also contacted Audere, who have great customer service. The basic answer is that the red wires from the pups go, via the coil tap switch, to the green and white wire from the module, the same wire that the black pup wires go to. If anyone is doing a similar...

    Nordstrand + Audere coil tap

Hi all. I'm just adding an Audere 3ZB pre to the Nordstrand fat stacks which I was previously running passive in my Lakland 5501. Wired it up last night and it sounds great. I had to do a bit of guesswork for the coil tap though. The red wires from the pups go to the coil tap switch and...

Are musicians more suceptable to mental issues?

One in 4 people will suffer some kind of mental health problem at some point. It's not exactly uncommon. But I would guess that it is more common for musicians for a number of reasons. (including drugs, chaotic lifestyles, creative minds, demographics.)

    Weird Chinese bass forum thingie.

Top 10 bass FX of all time?

You should definitely try out the subdecay baby quasar, its got a beautiful mellow phase, plenty of low end can do funky as well. it's the sound I hear in my head. For my enjoyment of playing, I'd probably be happy with a quasar and a VT, for my enjoyment of shopping however ...:D

On stage: Right or Left of the drummer?

Always always hat-side. Although thinking about it, our drummer has an electric kit now so it shouldn't make much difference to what I hear, but that's the side it's gotta be. I do wander around the stage a bit though, sometimes go and stand with the guitarist on the other side, just to interact...

    String through body or bridge?

It's got more to do with string angle than anything else. I put my thicker strings through the bridge and thinner ones through the body. Doesn't really matter though.

GK 800RB why it never changed?

A lot of people choose the 700RB over the 1001RB as the lower power makes it easier to hit the sweet spot. How that compares to the 800 though is a different story.

    Let's hear your bands!

Here's my band - 'I am the Dice' http://www.facebook.com/iamthedice There's a couple of demo tracks and a video. I think the demo tracks are a little 'over-processed' - we sound rawer and heavier live, and with the bass much higher in the mix. But we like it!

    McCartney Sabotaged Lennons Songs?

The Beatles were a great band, and who cares if we like Paul or we like John or whatever. Personally, I can't stand Paul: from what I've read it's pretty obvious he screwed the others over and was only interested in his own ego; but why anyone would be interested in my opinion, I don't know -...

    Wireless: Sennheiser vs Line 6

They're pretty robust and fold flat against the side of your bass, or alternatively can be put on a little holster on your strap with an extension. It is a very cool concept, but looks like you'd have to pay extra postage - now you know how we usually feel! :p
