I know it's not likely, but does anyone make a shell for a 51p pickup... ? The naked fragility of this thing, combined with my thumb fishing for an anchor, and generally aggressive right-hand technique, makes me want it covered in plastic (or wood?) Calling it a shell to avoid confusion...

I use a rack bag with Aggie DB750. No problems and I can one-hand carry it (at least for short distances.. lol)

I just acquired a fralin dual coil '51p 10% overwound, which might do want you're looking for. It's not yet installed, so I can't give any feedback yet. Kinda pricey at $140.

I've got a P body routed for jazz pups that I'd like make sound like a P as much as possible. Is there a brand/model of Jazz neck pickup that sounds more like a P than others of its kind? Or is it the split config of a P pickup what gives it that P sound? Before I get inundated with suggestions...

I love my DB750, but the fan noise is annoying when using it for low volume practice at home. You'd think they would have put a thermal sensor in them so fans only engage / speed up when the amp is pushed, not whirring away at full speed while idle. Was this corrected on the 751?

I use Labella's, cuz they, um, sound like flats are supposed to sound. I have Chromes on my 5 string jazz, but it stays home as it doesn't fit the feel of my current project. Chromes are nicely balanced between roundwound twang and flatwound thud. I'd definitely recommend using them with a B3K.

Love it but can't justify using it in my current project. $160 shipped CONUS.

I play heavy flats, but I like the sound of them overdriven. I can go from motown thump on steroids to dark & grindy or bright & clanky depending on OD box & settings. What flats + OD don't do for me is that clean & twangy modern jazz / funk / versatile cover band sound. I don't mind.

15/6tube. You can always add another one, or do what I did and add a standard 12/6/1 (it's a width match to the 15/6 tube when stacked sideways on top). The extra cost of cab and xover components is worth the modular transport flexibility and convenience of having 2 fully functional cabs.
