    Two new Mark Hoppus's approved

I just bought an old Hoppus months ago, and now they pull this! Granted, it was used and $399, but still! (If the current models are $939, I don't see these ones being any cheaper...)

My Fender Squier MIJ Precision Bass

Didn't Fender Japan also make a few guitars for the Vista series in the mid 90's? Like the Jagmaster and the Venus.

P or PJ? ... that IS the question

Road worn basses aren't exactly unique or overtly valuable as some seem to be implying. If you like the P/J tone and dont want to buy another bass for that sound, go for it.

I present, the custom Hello Kitty bass

Apparently the singles in Bronco Basses are covered Strat pickups. You should get a rail humbucker in that thing and make it growl.

    Squire made in Japan

I know it's not exactly bass related, but I do remember that Japan's last foray in Squier production came in the mid-late 90's with the Jagmaster for the Vista series, which was a guitar made of leftover Jaguar parts.

My first refinish project. Squier Precision.

The 14 hole P-Bass was one of Squiers' part incompatibility issues that was finally fixed in 2004. IMO, just plug and re-drill new holes in the body. The only holes that have problems (in my experience) should be the ones covering the route cavity. For that I glued in a piece of wood around the...

Tru-Oil and/or Wipe On Poly on basswood

Using light finishes on Basswood isn't advisable because of how soft the wood is. Bare basswood dents from the lightest of touches.

Anyone buy from GC used gear online? You must see the pics..

I did order a used Hoppus Fender bass from a Guitar Center in Michigan. I received the guitar double boxed with foam/bubble packing. Overall, well packed. It varies from store to store.

Not quite as high output as the P-Bass QPs, but they're very bright, loud, and punchy.

    Lakland discontinuing the Darryl Jones...

Supply and demand. Expect people to scoop it up in inflated prices for a good few months after its discontinued while the quantities are fairly available. Then people will get their fill, and sellers will find that unloading one for a profit may be a bit difficult, turning it into a buyer's...

Fender P/J style Jazz done (pics inside)

The body went for around $150 on eBay and the pickguard was $20. The other parts (neck, pickups, bridge, etc) I already had on hand, and the new CTS pots were covered by the luthier costs. The cost of labor was a bit more than the prices of the parts obtained from eBay (I don't want to disclose...

Hah, true and thanks. Right now its more of a wall decoration rather than a playable bass. I threw in the old Squier pickups (the quarter pounders have been in that bass longer than the original pickups ever were!), but they're not wired at the moment. Whenever I get the chance, I hope I can get...

Those Aerodynes look great! Unfortunately, I think those models are for sale in Japan only. All we get down here in the US is the Black P/J with the Strat jack. Several years ago, the US did get black ones with the standard jack. The Strat jack is a recent revision of the design offered in...
