Way too much gear, way to small space to store it... What's your solution!

I find that wall mounts for instruments make a massive difference, Buying a couple of Bicycle Rack hooks and putting them behind a door are great cable organizers. Any of the little random things like tuners etc etc I keep them on the side of my amp with velcro. I have a these old metal cases...

    410 and 210 cabs together

I run a decently new SWR 2x10 on top of an acoustic 4x10 thats almost 30 years old and its very true that the 2x10 gets more power but ime thats not terrible. it isnt as efficient as two 4x10s per say but the to me, having a 2x10 closer to ear level helps with projection and the 4x10 still adds...

    Homemade String mutes

Id probably end up going the fender route other then the fact my parents arent a fan of ebay and Im restricted in that sense of "where I can buy" online. although looking at that tune-o-matic bridge style muting system... i think i may try that, im replacing a bridge in an old hollowbody that...

    Homemade String mutes

Hey, I was wondering if anyone would know what kinda metal the stingray bridge mutes are made out of. I plan to make some my own for my P bass for the ol' foam under the bridge trick. I really like the idea of the stingray mutes (ie the new classic series or any of the older stingray models)...

    Anyone else dislike SWR?

Rocking a GKMB200 through a SWR JR2x10, perhaps its because i dont have a SWR head but personally i find the sound perfect, crisp lows, great scoop and clear highs, my musicman stingray sounds perfect through it, although SWR + P-bass with flats = yucky imo. Some people were mentioning the GK...

Whats the best action setup for slap bass?

Make sure your truss rod is straigh to !! if the action is getting high it could be due to bridge or truss rod, also you slap up to the twelth fret? Personally i prefer about 7/32ths of an inch, although sugguested is 3/32nds, i gotta stingray, to so i prefer the action a little higher...

If Bartolini is loathed by so many bassists, why then do so many builders use them?

Earlier in the thread alot of guys were saying barts arent zingy and bright like people are looking for, Every bart ive tried is a REALLY combination of the punchy midtones and spongy fusion sorta slaptone. from what ive seen there great for like fusion jazz and what not, they seem so versatile.

Looking for help finding a new primary bass

You should check out Kinal basses, hes a luthier in vancouver, ive played some of his stuff at L and M and seen it online. check out Greg Bagley and his galore of acoustic bass, tho kinals electrics are out of this world in play ability and tone.

    Gear that made you better

full scale acoustic bass with high action really REALLY puts your technique under a microscope and strengthens muscles. Ukulele really helped me with finger dexterity and learning a whole new set of tuning.

    Is your voice a bass?

I know that ive got a pretty low voice, its kinda funny because i play bari sax along with bass and i always wondered if that affected my voice in training lower, i can go some weird notes bellow the Eb, but comfortably at E and just peak the E 3 octaves above, sometimes the F with falesseto

    Ed Friedland's 1-2-4 fingering technique

Ive always felt that 1-2-4 is a very naturally way of playing. When your thumb is on the back of the neck and your fingers are parallel to the frets the way your tendons work it makes the ring finger incredibly weak and your pink stronger. I forget where i heard this but it was from a bass...

    Pairing a 210 with a 410

ive got a SWR goliath jr 2x10 8ohms and a TB410 acoustic cab, the SWR is rated at 400 watts and the acoustic at 300, i personally find that having the acoustic which sounds meatier and deeper on the bottom with the SWR on top being more punchy and sharp with a tweeter and what not REALLY makes a...

Next Thing to Buy for Recording

I would always avoid using the line out on a guitar amp as you probably noticed they sound terrible XD but on a bass amp there not bad, a DI box basically acts as a way for you to get a dry signal out of an instrument, usually only used for basses or keyboards, you plug your bass into the DI...

    Left Pinky Finger

Im of the believer that using your pinky is ALL about the position of the left thumb, make sure your left thumb is about the center of the back of the fretboard and your fingers are perpendicular to the fretboard, if your thumb is doing like the jimi hendrix things, you cant reach with your pink...

Fender Rumble 410 needs amp. Suggestions?

GKMB200 is an amazing head, i would say if you want to go modern, GKmb200, and vintage the portaflex is more then the trick. Also i hear that the GKmb200 is just as loud or louder then the portaflex, im unsure how accurate that is, check up on it.

just for my two bits, i bought one of these heads and a SWR goliath JR 2x10 with tweeter. it sounds SO CLEAR and pretty powerfull for the price. power wise tho im not worried becuase the goliath has an output on it to daisy chain another cab ie, a 1x15, which i tried in stores, it was so loud...
