Listen, do you want to know a secret?

It is entirely possible to be able to get a smashing JBass for that kind of money. I believe it because I've seen it with my own eyes (or perhaps rather, heard it with my own ears??). Haven't heard of this particular brand that you're endorsing but I have held some Jazz Basses made by a...

    R.I.P. Lyndon Laney

Oh... Sad. I am actually very fond of Laney amps, always thought their combos in particular had something interesting in them. A good late friend of mine had a very nice Laney tube guitar combo, his last amp before his death. It's weird that I finally come across a Laney mention by reading about...

Tonehammer vs AG = Eden vs SWR?

Tonehammer is your choice. I've had both (TH500 and AG 500 DC) and the AG will not get you there without some extra preamps.

Great bass but I was never particularly stoked about that dildo-shaped cutaway... why my fellow Germans, what was the point lol

    Yamaha TRB-6 Goodness!

I love wider necks because narrow 6 string necks tend to make my left hand finger position worse. Depends on the hand size though but yeah, I definitely appreciate a wide neck for a 6er.

Has anyone compared an Aguilar DB 751 to the Helix preset?

My friend owns a db751. Great amp but worth 3500? Nah, no amp is worth that much.

    Ken smith

I played Ken Smiths, played NYC Sadowskys, Foderas... They didn't really feel that much special, apart from the brand fame. Fodera was perhaps my biggest disappointment, given all the attention it gets... Don't get me wrong, they're great and amazing instruments, there's nothing wrong with them...

    Sadowsky or Fender

A Fender is a Fender. Nothing Sadowsky does will get close to Fender. Because they aren't Fender. Fender will also never get to Sadowsky. Because they aren't Sadowsky. Two different things in a similar looking body. I don't care much about NYC Sadowsky basses, their chambered body feels too...

    I made a DIY cab. It's Green.

Thing is, there is nothing to report here. What you can do for yourself though (people in general, not you specifically) is to not get offended for every single opinion that doesn't align with your current indoctrination. Now that, is a step in the right direction.

    I made a DIY cab. It's Green.

I'm good, thank you. I also have my degrees, I've studied stuff, I also work with some leading personnel in certain areas and I am well aware of empirical approach. It is however also important to not only blindly follow the engineering rationale but encompass cognitive approach as well. I...

    I made a DIY cab. It's Green.

That's a fair point and I agree with this. Of course there are better ways to do it. Perhaps the OP had the chance to research this prior to buying a driver. Perhaps he already had the driver lying around. Though, most of these "frankenstein" cab soups come up by having a spare cab lying around...

    I made a DIY cab. It's Green.

I'm trying to explain to you that there is no one solution to everything. There are people who enjoy a solid 60hz roll-off, they enjoy and appreciate the tightness they get with it and the control it brings, especially in acoustically compromised spaces (90% of venues). They don't necessarily...

Sounds perfectly well to me. And to many others. Be proud of your firstborn (or x-born) and don't pay too much attention to purists. They think it's the only way and "cross my heart and hope to die".

    I made a DIY cab. It's Green.

I'm not even going to waste more arthritis on this discussion. I'll just drop this - people buying cabs with omg LF response (doing it the "proper" way) and then stuffing an HPF @ 90 hz I mean... come on.

    I made a DIY cab. It's Green.

I have a specific allergy to this kind of behavior. He (the OP) has a right to an opinion and a right to ask questions. Giving up or not giving up performance is a subjective matter as I have stated numerous times already and if the OP digs the sound now, there's a chance he might not dig it...

    8 ohm and 4 ohm

It would work if it were the other way around - a 4ohm 410 and 8 ohm 210. Then each driver would see the same load. Does the GK Fusion support a 2 ohm load though? If memory serves, the newer S series Fusions are able to take loads down to 2 ohm but the older ones only go down to 4 ohm. Same...

Ampeg V4BH Classic Series vs V4B current series.

I have the original V4B, 1972 if memory serves me correct. A powerhouse of an amp and despite being a 100W head, with proper speakers handles the biggest gigs with relative ease. Minus something like the wembley stadium ofc but if you ever make it there, you'll be able to buy 10 V4Bs anyways.

Does a luthier always bundle fret leveling with a setup? $$$

Of course. I agree completely. I have however had cases where actual luthiers didn't want to perform a fret leveling on my Yamaha BB2025 because in their opinion they weren't "that far off" and wanted to preserve the frets. When I took it to another luthier (I really play low action) they...

Does a luthier always bundle fret leveling with a setup? $$$

The lower the action, the more important quality fret leveling is. That being said, not every luthier is always equally comfortable in doing a fret level, at least IME. Some won't touch frets unless absolutely necessarry, which is something I always found weird. A fret is supposed to be a...

School me on Music Man Stingrays

Flatwounds on P-bass for Motown sound

I actually have both installed at the moment, Dunlops on my Jazz Bass and DTF on my PBass. Dunlops sound brighter but not "bright bright", it's just that the typical mid bark of the flats is a bit higher pitched. Labellas are a classic but they have a pretty ridiculous string tension, quite a...

    Cv 60s vs 70s
