Hi, I realise that this is a bit of a wild shot but by any chance do you still have the Bass Player May/June 1991 Muzz Skillings for sale? If so, can you post it to the UK? Thank you ,

. Hi, the body was routed for the single coil. It's a replica body, flat no contours. The Model One sounds great. Not at all "muddy". I just need a membership number now :-)

Does this count? I had this assembled. I call it my HillBilly bass as it's a cross between a Dusty Hill style bass and a Sheehan inspired one. Stacked controls. Model One and a Strat type bladed humbucker.

Suggestions for new basses with a true neck/mudbucker pickup?

I've a BB714BS and I've modded another bass by adding a dual blade humbucker at the neck. It might be worth doing this if you have a bass you like but want the sound of a neck pickup.

    NBD 1969 Gibson Thunderbird II

I take it you won't be doing as much work on this, as you needed to do on the Waterstone, to make it playable? ;-) Don't forget you can send it to Liverpool, UK, if you don't want it! :-) Not that, that will happen! :-)

    Any Yamaha Bass Players?

I've two Yamaha basses. A BB714BS and a RBX200. The latter is the 1987 design and I got it dirt cheap. The neck is great. Fast and flat. However, it's missing the truss rod nut. Does anybody know what side the truss rod thread is? 10/32 or the metric equivalent 8mm? Any help on this will be...

Truss rod thread size on a Yamaha RBX200 bass.

Hi, does anybody know the truss rod thread size on a Yamaha RBX200 bass, 1987 design, that terminates in the body? I've been given a perfectly playable bass with a great flat neck but the truss rod nut is missing. I'm hoping someone knows the size of a suitable replacement.

    Guitar pickups in bass ???

Apparently the Warman Dominator quad rail pickup can be used in bassess. According to ebay "Being a blade type pickup it can be used on a wide variety of string spans, including a bass, we've even had a customer fit them to a 17th Century Clavichord and in either bridge, mid or neck...

I have bought some parts from them, via their eBay shop in the UK. As far as I can tell these are exactly the same parts as used on any name bass etc that is manufactured in China or the Far East. A lots of manufacturers who outsource their building and parts appear to use this supplier. For...

What size are the string ferrule retainers on a Hagstrom 8 string bass?

Hi, I'm in the process of building and 8 string Thunderbird bass. I have managed to source an 8 string bridge which appears to be identical to the bridge on the Hagstrom 8 string bass reissue. That is, it requires the strings to be loaded through the body. Does anybody know what size string...

Who's sound made you want to try the bass?

Jimmy Lea "Slade alive", John Entwistle " The Who - live at leeds" and Andy Fraser bass break on "all right now". I think that at some point in every band that I have been in, no matter what style of music that I play, I have at some point quoted a bassline from the above triumvirate!

    Neck Replacement Question

As there are no frets on a fretless bass scale length does not matter. If you have an unlined neck you be using your ears to play in tune rather than looking at the "fret" position on the net. On a fretless bass the octave point on the open string will always be halfway along its length...

thanks Mark For doing this. In a sense this bass is a combination of all my bass influences. I tried to combine the best bits from a Jim Lea influenced EB3 along with a big John Entwistle influence. In a very short period of time in 1972, when I was 14, I bought "Slade alive", "The Who live...
