    Steinberger Spirits

I thought I would add here that if someone is looking for a stand for their Spirit Xt bass this one works perfectly. Been gigging with my XT2 for a while now and this stand fits the bill perfectly. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001V7M7RK/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I’m so lost in this preamp di world :(

I've tried a bunch and settled on a Tech 21 VT Bass DI. Was not expecting it to sound as good as it does. Whisper quiet and a lot of tone sculpting capabilities.

    Ding'dwall Combustion 5...

If you regularly use an instrument (or worse.....gig it), it will get dings. It's a fact of life. I can almost recall the origins of every ding in each of the instruments I own, and in many cases can tell the story of how they got there. Some humorous, like running into a dumpster in a dark...

    Silly mistakes I keep making

I find that a caffeine tablet (or a cup of coffee) right before the set begins helps fix those little mistakes. For some reason caffeine really helps me focus much better.

Would you trade your bass competencies for something else?

I play bass, guitar, drums, trumpet, and keys proficiently. Bass is by far my favorite. Nothing is better than standing on stage in front of a big bass stack and feeling the energy from your fingers and strings resonating literally right through your body. I love that!

A mystery wrapped in an enigma

Because active pre-amps invariably never have the headroom I want.

    Bass Players buying guitars

Yes, but the whole thing back-fired on me. I've played lead guitar on and off my whole life, but considered bass my "stage instrument". Not a pro, just weekend warrior stuff doing local clubs, weddings, etc. Rewind two years ago and my wife's cover band simply could not keep a good lead guitar...

Sterling SUB NBD and need your thoughts

I had to replace both the pickup and the pre-amp on my Sub. Pickup change alone didn't do it.

    EHX Bass Mono Synth

Got mine today. Junk. It's going back. Doesn't track great on fast runs, even with the sensitivity all of the way up. Sounds are just OK....nothing mind blowing. Every once in a while turning the voice selector makes a loud blip come through my bass amp (maybe mine has a bad selector...

Markbass - Does their support exist?

Ummm...no idea bro. I'm really glad you know it all, and can impart your truly mind blowing wisdom on all of us. :meh: /sarcasm off

Markbass - Does their support exist?

Because clearly I'm not as smart as you? :cautious: The amp emits a minor crackle every few minutes, so this doesn't require immediate attention. I have two other amps I can use in the meantime. I'm glad you found it with a google search in 10 seconds. You are my official hero. Shame on me...

I've had exceptional support experiences with both Aguilar and Gallien Krueger. Edit: Oh, and Mesa.....they have amazing support as well.

Thanks, but no GC's near me (purchased it online from Musicians Friend). Honestly how difficult can it be to answer an email? :bored:

Markbass - Does their support exist?

Needing a little support for a Markbass product I have. Tried emailing the address listed on the website multiple times. Been over a week now. Crickets. :( Does anyone know if there is any US based support for MarkBass? Does anyone have an email address other than [email protected]?

Beginner player deciding on a bass amp and cabinet

I echo the "used gear" sentiment. Find some of the older used heads that are going for next to nothing because they are heavier. Now is a great time to be looking for your first real rig, because everyone is dumping their older heavier gear for the newer lighter stuff. What you should be...

Manufacturer shipping delay according to Sweetwater. My rep says they should ship out sometime this week. I wonder if demand far exceeded expectations.

Poll: Help me decide on a new amp

You can find used 1001RB's all day long for $400. They will out perform everything on your list (headroom-wise), and only weigh 22 pounds.

    Are bass amps obsolete?

Dude, I am so with you. Both of my current projects are using IEM's (Classic rock cover band, and original new country). We upgraded our PA so that I could DI into it, but I REALLY miss having my organs displaced with the bass frequencies of a 6x10 behind me. I'm at a point now where I only wear...

    Want to go lighter..

I would consider a Neo 4X10 cab (my Markbass 4x10 comes in at about 65 pounds) or if you want to go with even a more portable setup, try vertically stacking two 2x10 cabs (or maybe a combination of a 2x10 and a 4x10 Neo cab). Vertically stacking 2x10's will get the sound closer to your ears...

I play a fender P, but the weight is getting too much. Looking for lighter bass w/great bassy tone?

You could go with a Peavey T-40, and chainsaw the body in half. That should bring you in at just a hair under 8 pounds. :roflmao:

    EHX Bass Mono Synth

At $124 this is a no brainer. I was just shopping synth pedals and decided to hold off to see what popped up at NAMM. So glad I waited. Heading to Sweetwater to pre-order one now.

I would go with the Talman. You should be able to pick one up used for a song, and they seem to be well received up here.

    Damn she’s heavy!

10 lbs is my absolute max for weight, and really I don't buy them anymore unless they are under 9.5 lbs. Where did you purchase the bass? The bigger online retailers all provide no hassle returns. Bottom Line: If it feels too heavy, you will likely not play it much a few months down the road...

Worst Bass Related Purchase of 2018?

Fender American Precision Bass. Believe it or not this was a bass that had eluded me since I started playing. I was pretty excited about the purchase, but for whatever reason I just didn't bond with it. Even after a pro setup, it didn't even come close to my Mexi in playability. Sold it after 3...
