Just one more question you say you use chromes which ones do you use and which brand and do they do short scale ? I seem to have problems locating these.
Thanks
Chas.
Well I have bitten the bullet so to speak and ordered the JJ Longhorn in Black from Lukes Guitar shop. I can't wait for it to arrive on these shores and paid an extra £38 delivery to get it sooner. Let you know how it goes. Thanks again. Chas.
Thanks very much for that reply. Made up my mind to have it now. Also very interested in your tone mod. as I was wondering about this myself. I find it difficult to imagine why there is no tone knob and what I didn't want to do is devalue the bass by having any radical alterations done. I was...
That wasn't the question but thanks anyway. It's just nice to hear what owners of these basses think and the difference betwwen the two models. I owned a earlier model but sold it as it wouldn't cut through the mix live and the mid range tone probably would. I just don't want to get it without...
Do you find there is enough depth to the sound as I note an earlier post said that the later Neptune basses were more mid range. I have been offered one and need to make sure the low end is good. Thanks.
Thanks mate very helpful
If it was that weight I would have it but the only shop over here that has got one says it is 8lb 8oz which is a tad too heavy for me. Thanks for the info.
I would but only one shop had one and they didn't get back to me when I posted this. Thanks for the information but I thought the whole point of this forum was the sharing of information. We don't seem to have the access to this product as you do in the States.
I didn't get on with my JMJ but that was just me whether I didn't get a good one or not I don't know but I couldn't get enough bottom end with roundwound strings. I so wanted a vintera but when it came the neck was warped and my repairer guy had awful troubles and I sent it back. Pretty happy...
Forgot to put on original post I had to have the lightest Huntinton they had because of a should and back injury but mine did not have the piezo. Does anyone know if this can be bought as a seperate item and fitted by my local guitar tech?.
I have just bought a Huntington 1 in Ash and I don't seem to have these issues with the E string. But what I have noticed the strings are roundwound and there is no silk lining on them. I hope now I have said this nothing appears !!!!!
Does anyone have the Vintera Mustang and the JMJ and can you notice much difference ? I can't compare them as I have neither but I am not sure which one to go for. I have returned my Vintera as it is faulty and am not sure whether to splash out a bit more cash. I know the JMJ has SD pickups and...
Yeah and this is the problem I have found with my AP as it is strung through the body so a short set would be too short. Does cutting long scale strings to size alter the tone much?. I never had this problem with guitars.
When my American Performer came I found the Mustang pickup's were attached only just to the mounting plate by 3 screws that were too small and fell through into the body !!!!!! Luckily my guitar tech. fixed this but you shouldn't pay this sort of money for any guitar. This after I returned a PJ...
The criticism I read about Mustangs and short scale basses in general is the lack of clarity and depth of the E string if not using a pick? Anybody find this themselves compared to a 34" bass? I find being a fingerstyle player a difference myself but they compensate in other ways.
I had a '78 Mustang and sold it because I found it too heavy and didn't sound any different to my CIJ one. I have an AP and really like the weight and the sound.
I have ordered a Vintera Mustang to complement my American Performer and am looking forward to playing it through my GK rig. I guess it will have a different sound to the American Performer I would like to have tried one but there are no shops where I live that stock them.
I have had issues like this with high end Gibson guitars which agreed you shouldn't have but I have often got a local guy to tweak the action including the odd fret filing down to feel like it should play. As to the quality checking alot of it is rubbish. I just bought an American Performer...
I bought an American Performer Mustang and just love it. It plays well and has got the best sound to my ears of all the Mustangs I have had. Loads of bottom end which sometimes has been missing, to my ears, with some I have owned.
The thread on cases is interesting as I have an American Performer and have just ordered a Vintera and two fender cases is out of the question. I will look into the Gator cases as I have one but it's for a long scale bass which I have now sold. The cases seem real high quality.
I have just ordered a Vintera Mustang and looking forward to trying it. From the reports on here it seems good. It's all a matter of opinion but I have an American Performer Mustang and love it. It seems so different to other ones I have tried. I have had about six over the years and found a...
Do you get enough bottom end with this Mustang Bass ?. I have just ordered one as my hands can't take a full scale anymore and wondered how you find it. I am thinking about changing strings to 105 to 50.
