Club Bergantino! Let's See Those Rigs!

As someone who still uses an original HP1 it would be great to have a download that kept the generic speaker profile but just added the modern and vintage options.

    Official Barefaced Bass Cab Club

Super midget and bb2 works for me. The sm gets most work, feed it with some decent power and push the bass a bit and it can go deep but a bit tighter than the bb or I would imagine the compact. The convenience factor of the midget is huge.

Club Bergantino! Let's See Those Rigs!

This post was a real ear opener for me . I have an original hp which has not seen much use in the past couple of years as my taste changed and other amps came and went. I downloaded a couple of the ultra firmware options to try with my Barefaced Big Baby cab and the hpn112 is a fantastic match...

    Trickfish 1K vs Bergantino HP2

I sold my 800+ and replaced it with the 800D . Best move I ever made. I also have a Forte HP but the 800D gets all the work.

The Mesa 800D is the one to check out ime/I only.

I noticed that the Warwick WL4 does not have the bass extender. Does it still have the narrower nut like the NYC and Japan models? Otherwise it might just as well be a standard with a mid boost switch.

So is the feeling that Warwick Sadowskys are developing their own character and moving away from a more traditional Sadowsky tone?

My CS postmodern journeyman jazz precision has the cleanest, most clear P pickup I have ever heard. Always gets positive comments.

Is a Barefaced cab the best for light weight / high volume?

I believe that Barefaced drivers are built specifically for them by Eminence to Barefaced specs, after considerable development on Alex's part. I doubt that you could buy one "off the shelf" from Eminence or anyone else.

New MESA BOOGIE release - MESA/Boogie Bass 800D - 800W Bass Amp Head

I suspect the 800D has not been out long enough nor produced in sufficient quantities yet to register.

    Club Sadowsky!!!

Funnily enough I too have just rediscovered my mij Will Lee. Happened because I have just a acquired one of the new Mesa 400D amps which seems to be a perfect match for the WL. Previously my main head was a Bergantino Forte or a mesa 800+, both of which I tended to prefer with my Fenders and...

New MESA BOOGIE release - MESA/Boogie Bass 800D - 800W Bass Amp Head

¼ That's the beauty of the Subway range. The 800D was never going to suit everyone, nor I suspect was designed to do so, but there will probably be one of the other heads that is right for you. I just couldn't marry with my 800+ and donated it away but the 800D ticks all the boxes for my...

New MESA BOOGIE release - MESA/Boogie Bass 800D - 800W Bass Amp Head

Couldn't agree more. I still have a Forte HP which was my go to head but the 800D has now superseded it as first choice. The 800D is much more straightforward to use and its built in tone is what I was trying to achieve with the Bergantino. Not to knock the Forte as it is incredibly versatile...

Buying SVT CL and 810 cab - what to look out for

Check to see where it was manufactured. Around 2006 Ampeg moved manufacture to Vietnam and there were issues with some of the "Vietnampeg" SVTs. I think after a couple of years they moved it to China which solved things. It should say on the back panel where it was made . If it was USA grab...

New MESA BOOGIE release - MESA/Boogie Bass 800D - 800W Bass Amp Head

Is there a picture anywhere of the inside? I used to be into tube rolling and have a few rather expensive 12at7s lying around of different makes. Very happy with the way it sounds at the moment, just curious. The manual indicates you would need to rebias the tube which would deter me if that is...

New MESA BOOGIE release - MESA/Boogie Bass 800D - 800W Bass Amp Head

The interaction between the tone controls is something I have not come across so obviously in Fender type tone stacks before. Particularly the way a slight tweak of the treble knob can alter the mids and bass balance and the way they respond. I like it as it adds to the versatility available in...

New MESA BOOGIE release - MESA/Boogie Bass 800D - 800W Bass Amp Head

When I consider that the serial number of my recent arrival is 127 and someone else has 169 it makes me realize how fortunate we are in New Zealand just to have received two in the country. It makes me rethink my perspective on Mesa a little (in a positive way) as I had thought of it as a huge...

New MESA BOOGIE release - MESA/Boogie Bass 800D - 800W Bass Amp Head

Just noticed that mine (number 127) is signed on the bottom in silver marker by Grizz with the date 8/12/25. On the tag Grizz is the technician and inspection person. I assume that they all get a personal sign-off. I wonder if in fifty years time a Grizz sign off could have the same significance...

New MESA BOOGIE release - MESA/Boogie Bass 800D - 800W Bass Amp Head

Played mine in a live band situation for the first time today. Cab was a Barefaced bb2. It performed perfectly, as expected. Quick and easy to dial in and although I know it is the same power amp as my old 800+ it felt much louder. Also seemed more responsive to touch with the tube. Of...

New MESA BOOGIE release - MESA/Boogie Bass 800D - 800W Bass Amp Head

Similar with me. The 800+ was a great amp, just not for me. I don't need versatility and lots of options, I just need to find my tone then that is it. If I was younger I would still be taking the Orange AD200b or the Aguilar DB751 that are sitting in the shed, but these days weight is a major...

New MESA BOOGIE release - MESA/Boogie Bass 800D - 800W Bass Amp Head

Thought I had an issue with mine when I found time to have a decent fiddle. Every timeI turned it on there was a pause then about two seconds of white noise before it would play. Did the usual checks, send receive plugs etc. The noise was there mute on or off but not there if I left an...

New MESA BOOGIE release - MESA/Boogie Bass 800D - 800W Bass Amp Head

Just took delivery of my 800D. Only had a few minutes to check that it works as getting ready for Christmas but I have owned more than my fair share of amps so I can give an initial impression. My current heads are a Bergantino Forte, Aguilar DB751 and Orange AD200. Cabs are all Barefaced of...

New MESA BOOGIE release - MESA/Boogie Bass 800D - 800W Bass Amp Head

Good luck. I think the other one is at the Hornby shop now according to the website. In my experience it is quicker to order it online as if you go through the local branch they have to work to a national delivery schedule. Or something like that.

New MESA BOOGIE release - MESA/Boogie Bass 800D - 800W Bass Amp Head

Woohoo!!! Just called the New Zealand importers to see when some 800Ds are likely to appear down here at the bottom of the world. They had just today taken delivery of two so one is now paid for and mine. The salesperson asked if I wanted to try it first (which would have required a long road...

New MESA BOOGIE release - MESA/Boogie Bass 800D - 800W Bass Amp Head

Very keen to hear about that comparison. I too have a first generation Forte HP and the 800D is on my horizon as soon as they turn up down here in Kiwiland. I had an 800+ but never quite yelled with it so recently gifted it to another deserving bass player. From what I have read and heard the...

    Club Sadowsky!!!

As I understand it Yoshi oversaw production of the mij metro express basses but they were produced in another factory. Only the metrolines were actually made in the Sadowsky Japan workshop that Yoshi ran. One of the reasons that the metro express was so much cheaper at the time. I am pretty sure...

Replacement neck for Fender CS postmodern precision

Agree with this except my 751 has absolutely no hiss and fan noise has never been an issue. Certainly one sound which is huge though. It always feels heavier than it actually is to schlep.

I too have both cabs. Ime the Two 10 has more punch in the mids and sounds a little more focused. The bb2 is more even across the tonal range and seems to fill the room in a less directional way, like a wash.
