    Bassist and Spinal Issues club

Who is giving out the club member numbers? I want one! How I cope: First: light bass. I love my Mustang. It's light and I don't need to reach out with my left arm Second: letting the venue's PA do the job. Or bandmates. Don't carry stuff. Use wheels. I carry only my bass, my preamp and IEM...

I just put mu hands on Valeton GP-50 and the measured latency is 5ms, for me fine as a sole latency generator in live situation.

How many milliseconds out of time is reasonable aim?

Thank you all for valuable input. It is always good to get some peer review, no improvement without pain :) @sawzalot Thank you for pointing specific improvement potential with using other fingers instead of index alone @bass12 What do you mean by chord progression/change as a thing to...

How many milliseconds out of time is reasonable aim?

I struggle to play in time. I miss-time one note each minute (give or take). It's around 30-40ms too soon or too late. Here's my Polish smile video - and that's as good as it gets. I won't play closer to grid Is this reasonable for a intermediate player I consider myself? Each teacher says...

Setting intonation Ibanez GSRM-25 28.6" bass: OK up to 12 fret only

Speaking of precise measurement: When I pluck a string, pitch goes up to 4 cents up and then goes back I can't here the difference Pretty normal, isn't it?

Setting intonation Ibanez GSRM-25 28.6" bass: OK up to 12 fret only

First frets are perfect straight outta box 1, 3, 5, 7, 10 and 12th are fine up to ±3 cents Then it goes bad. Here are the initial results of G-string. I tried with action (high and low) and truss rod and saddle position to no avail so it makes no sense to update the results 15th fret: +13 17th...

Setting intonation Ibanez GSRM-25 28.6" bass: OK up to 12 fret only

@Aloe I had my other guitar checked by an allegedly reputable tech and he couldn't fix wrong intonation at first few frets, the further from the nut the better; after some reading and fellow TBers support I improved witness point and increased breaking angle with a zip tie on the nut side...

Setting intonation Ibanez GSRM-25 28.6" bass: OK up to 12 fret only

Just got my hands on a pretty easy and comfortable bass I am setting intonation and it goes well on G and D up to twelfth fret. There's a ±3 cents deviation across 1st, 3rd, 5th, 7th, 10th and 12th fret But then it gets bad 15th fret: +13 17th: +21 19: +33 22nd: +45 Neck relief is ~0.3mm...

Fender Rumble 500 or Rumble 800?

The 800W vs 500W is barely noticeable. It's mere 2dB more potent The 800c is 7lb lighter and that would make a difference for me 29lb vs 36lb

Advice on New Jazz Bass with nut cut too deep

I can't tell much about getting support from dealer or Fender What I can tell is replacing and filing a nut is easy work. A nut itself is few dollars and an hour or two for filing or sandpaper (I bought mine too thick) and you're done. You just saved money and learned new skill and got...

Is this break angle a problem?

In my experience insufficient breaking angle makes tuning on first frets and open string bad. If open is OK, first frets are like +5 sharp I add string retainer(s) when necessary and/or zip ties between nut and tuning posts

What difference does the 7 make in Cm7 chord?

@ga_edwards I come from world in which woofer power was used as a cabinet power, but that's a side note I strongly doubt a tweeter withstands 350W or 8" woofer 650W neither mechanically or electrically. However I saw some car audio speakers with insanely long magnets for high cone excursion...
