2013 Ampeg V-4B 100W Reissue Pt2

So a little update, I played a v4b reissue and I was very happy. At the volume levels i got it to in the store it sounded better than the SVT CL and as good as the AD200b that was next to it.

I'm gonna go for it! Very exciting, seems like the perfect mix of manageability and tone.

So cab time, I know this has been discussed at length, and it seems that an 810 is the top contender for maximizing the v4b. I imagine that a stack of 2 212avs wouldnt be a slouch rig either, considering that ampeg is trying to push this combo. Pricewise, clearly a 810 is the cheaper choice, they're a dime a dozen. Portability wise, and venue specific use, 212s seem to be much better.

Has anyone here actually used this amp with a 2x 212av rig?

What would you guys do? I don't mind spending more money on the split cab route if it's gonna make me happy in the long run. I just want the best ****, always

One of my friends locally just got his backordered 212 to go with the V4B he bought after hearing mine and loving it with my Heritage 810. He described the sound as being much more modern but not so much so as an Epifani 212. He claims that my H810 (which is very similar to the fatback 810) blows the doors of the V4B cabs. I am not surprised but a tad disappointed as I had very high hopes for those cabs but it is unrealistic to think that anything can match the tone of the all mighty 810.

I will still look forward to playing through his new cab as it might be different from the 810 in a good way too as he plays blues/jazz and I play classic rock.

I play bass and guitar in my band. How cool would it be to have the V4B and an Ampeg GVT52-112 sitting next to each other.

The Amepg GVT52-112 amps are pretty kick ass as well

I measure 22"W x 4"H. Not sure if different from the CL and VR amps.

Pulled the trigger on a v4b and svt 112av cab last night. I'm hoping that the 112 will be sufficient for my stage volume needs. I'm run FOH everywhere I play, so thought the 212 might be overkill, and not allow me to crank the amp as much as I will hopefully be able to with the 112. I'll be picking them up next Sunday...ANXIOIUS!

Anyone have any experience with the single 112?

I ordered the V4B reissue last night. It should be here Tuesday. I didn't order the 212 cab yet that will come soon though. For the time being I'll be running it through my GB NeoX 212t. I think it will sound good just won't look the best.

I would be very surprised if you liked the SVT 212 AV better than the NeoX... not to say that I wouldn't want to be surprised.

...and the head wouldn't look stupid hanging over the sides.

Only heard this rig at the Ampeg room at NAMM, but I am cautiously optimistic. The new V-4B sounded a lot like my old V-4B, but with more control over the clean/dirt at various volumes. The SVT-212AV cabs were really intriguing, with a good bit of that "sealed box midrange thump" but also with the deeper extension of a ported cab. Those could be a real winner, but as always, the proof lies in how they perform on a gig.

Yes... I'm afraid of all 2x12s on the diagonal cabs. Good tone is one thing... but I've had bad experiences with them sounding weird at different spots on stage.

I mean. It'll probably sound awesome.

I should have my V4B in a day or two. will let you know what I think prob the weekend. I do know that the NeoX 212t will be hard to beat as far as 212 cabs go.

Has anyone tried an SVT classic through the 2x12 cab. I currently have an SVT classic going through an 8x10 and a Markbass 2x10 combo but considering selling the Markbass to get the 2x12 cab and some extra cash.

Well my V4B came today WooHoo!!! Gonna wait a few hours before I fire it up to let it acclimate. Cosmetically it looks great. Will check back later and let ya'll know how it sounds.
