I don't need another bass, but love the colour and am sorely tempted.
uhhhh, what?
There is no accounting for taste! What a total waste of time, server space and bandwidth, I can't believe I watched it to the end.
)When you consider the prices that’s got to be a fair result in anyone’s book! After a week playing both the P and the J, I can safely say that the J sounds much better. The P has the thinnest and brightest sounding P pickup I’ve ever heard. The J actually sounds more beefy to me. Definitely swapping a Duncan Quarter Pound in it. I may leave the J pickup stock actually, I quite like it.

That’s astonishing and really good newsPlayed my jazz against a Players series and Squier CV 60s jazz yesterday (both of which I have owned before) and decided I am keeping the stock pickups. They sound better than the Squier and Fender pickups IMO. They are louder, more punchy and beefy. Ironically, the Glarry J pickups sound bigger and more full than their P bass pickup which sounded thin and weak with way too much treble. I really prefer the sound of the J over the P, even with the Duncan pickup.

Hmmm.... Yes that is a concern I’m beginning to think about too…Still not happy with the tone from the P bass, even with the Quarter Pound pickup and with the new SansAmp preamp I just got that even makes my little Bronco sound badass. Im pretty sure its because of the weight. Its cool that it only weighs like less than 6 pounds but that means that the thing is damn near hollow inside most likely and thats why its got such a thin sound. Now that I think about it, hollow its a great way to describe the sound. It just doesn't sound full and throaty like a P bass should, especially one with a Quarter Pound in it, which did help but not enough.
I think Im going to pull the Quarter Pound out of it and put it in the Squier CV 60s P bass I am about to go pick up today. Its a shame because I love the look of the Burleywood P bass and how light it is but the tone is just not very good.
