A New Fender Coronado Bass?????

Even if the guy here just plucks a few notes, I had no doubt at all: if one wants to sell in this very competitive market of today, cannot come out with an axe that does NOT perform good!!!!
Just saw a listing on Ebay; a shop in Ontario is taking preorders for release in September. Cost is 749.99, free shipping.
If you search for them on eBay, you can see all of the color options and pictures of each one. The Coronado bass comes in black, candy apple red, three-color sunburst, and cherry sunburst. The Starcaster bass comes in three-color sunburst, natural, and black.
I predict a Starcaster bass in natural in my future.
How incredible is it that they are actually reissuing this model? Every issue of a bass that was never issued in the first place.

It's very encouraging to see Fender doing this re-issue. I wish them the best of luck; it's the only Fender model that's caught my attention in 40 years of playing semi-hollow basses.

The Starcaster in aged cherry burst. Looks like a keeper to me. Liking the humbuckers, maple neck, offset body and the cherry burst finish.
I'm thinking that makes five new short scale hollow bodies this year. The Gretsch, Lakland, Guild, and the two Fenders.

The sunburst prototype has a different bridge and pickup placement than the natural one. I wonder if it is a long scale version?

Yeah, I'm pretty sure the sunburst was made in long-scale. If you look at the neck of the bass, the sunburst is attached at the 17th fret, while the natural starcaster bass is attached at the 15th fret.
Quite simple:
Call it a Squier - $300 sale price
Call it a Fender - $600 sale price
Make it in the same factory - DOUBLE MARGIN TIME!
Fender is going to source more and more to China because that's where they can extract profit.
The neck body joint looks the same, it's just that the neck pickup, string mutes, and bridge are all shifted further down the body on the sunburst version.
