Sorry if I was a little snippy. I have been getting some hate on this, which I don't get as to why.

I don't know why either. Write it off as stupidity or jealousy. It's a beautiful bass- a playable work of art!

I personally like and intend to build a bass like the one in your avatar (originally Rudy's).

that's crazy price MTD635 for only 1900...

All three prices were crazy. The Surine 7 string was easily a $4k bass. The MTD was tagged at double what I paid for it... it was the end of the year and I asked what they'd take. The Fodera was about half the used price at the time.

I just found a stupid deal on a Brubaker guitar. I like GC.

I actually bought my Lakland US 4-94 Deluxe at Guitar Center, used, back about 10 years ago. Saw it up there on the rack, pulled it down, played it, put a deposit on it, took it home a month later. I will not say how much I snagged it for though!!

Why anyone would take this time to insert their personal opinions about this bass or others like it is unbelievable.

The thread was not titled hey, what do you think about my new bass, it was geared toward the OP just expressing that he was excited for having found a new bass he is really into.

You're not into the boutique basses you say? WHO CARES? WHO ARE YOU?
Your opinion on this bass or any others like it is so incredibly irrelevant to this story.
There's plenty of threads that boutique bashing would be more appropriate (although technically against the forum rules) it would at least fit more appropriately.

I myself am not very into the boutique basses, but I can reserve my opinions, in respect that they have not been requested of me.
I can appreciate the OP's feelings of excitement having just scored a great bass.
I can appreciate the standard of quality the bass is definitely made to meet.
And more importantly I can appreciate the interesting story of how the OP has since found out who the original builder was, and spoken to him, as well as the musician who the bass was built for.

But, all of that's a waste, haters are gonna hate, children will be children.
