If that's how the switch works, I agree with those who say it shouldn't be called an 8-/4-ohm impedance switch.

As did I, Bob, and as I mentioned earlier in that thread, I kinda felt like I had been parading around in "the Emperor's New Clothes" when the results were finally in.

I purchased my El Whappo as a single cabinet solution which meant, for me at least, that the switch wasn't all that important. I am still very pleased with the cabinet itself. However, the switch clearly does imply the potential for worrisome consequence for those who do use more than one cabinet.

Needing but a single cabinet, I have the luxury of thinking of this as "the marketing gaffe of 2005". Unfortunately there may be some others out there who are less fortunate and directly affected.

I am certainly not one to defend stupidity at any level, but there is a difference between that and inexperience. Some folks (perhaps still?) don't understand the significance of an impedance plot no matter how well it is explained. While these implications were very clear to me from Pete's first post, there are TB'ers who are struggling to catch on to the basics of impedance who might not get it.

The AccuGroove cabinets I've heard sounded really good. In fact, IMHO many cabs from various brands sound very good (with good players, anyway), even though they often sound quite different from one another. Unlike power amps, which are generally designed for neutrality and transparency, and therefore a high degree of sameness, loudspeaker cabinets for instruments can be tailored in radically different ways.

I know Mark Wright, and IMHO he's a really good guy. But he's not a technical guy at all. I doubt that he would actually intend to mislead people. I think this indicates that sales and marketing people and engineering people in a company need to keep well in touch with each other.
