I'll have to do some research on them. I don't like having to use batteries, but if an outboard preamp will work, that is acceptable for me.

Yeah, just a simple clean micro amp can be pretty handy to have around, especially if playing around with peizos.

It did go up a little in DC resistance from just about 11k to 11.18k.
And it lives!
Through the Micro VR head and SVT 810e speakers it sounds a lot like a Precision, likely due to the pickup location.
I definitely need to do something about the sharp corner transition from body to shell. I have some severe indentations on my forearm. I'm going to look into those John Pearse Armrest type things. I also ordered some strap locks. I'm hoping this bass doesn't neck dive too badly on a strap.
This is a pretty remarkable project.

How loud is it when you play it unplugged?
This slight change in resistance is probably due to the wire still being warm from potting (because copper resistance increases with temperature). That is, resistance of an unpotted pickup ought not change if it is later potted, assuming the wire is the same temperature when resistance is measured.
OK, end of nerd digression. Back to the topic...let me echo the others: excellent job!!!
Yes! This is what caused the big blackout in the East in 2003! Overloaded transmission lines heated up, increased in resistance, failed, and the failure cascaded!

So I started working on the arm rest today. I'm kind of moving in the dark, as I've never made anything like this before.

I traced the edge of the bass body on a piece of plywood, cut that out, and used it as a guide for the router.
I went about 1/2 way through the piece of maple, and then cut the outside with the jig saw.

Then lots of shaping and rounding over with all sorts of router bits, rasp files, drum sander, and sand paper.

Still a bit to do, and I may have to make it thinner, and shape the ends better, but getting there.

I would have worked on it longer, but lost the light, being one of the shortest days of the year. Things are looking up though - the days will only get longer from here on in.
