It’s sounds really good. Spendy and just a single stereo I/O, but it does sound good
I considered one when I bought my OTO BOUM. I wasn’t blown away by the distortion. I’d give it another look now.
I know a but old now but anyone got any opinions on a korg monologue for bass?
I still have my modal synth but it’s a bit frustrating to use as a what you see is what you get type thing given the dials on the modal sweep through everything with no indicator what it’s doing.

Quick question - anyone use or have thoughts on the Chase Bliss Mood? They are on sale from Chase Bliss on Reverb, so I'm tempted, but it's not the smartest thing to buy something without having a clear vision of how to use it/what to use it for.
They came out with a new stereo version, which is probably the reason for the discount. It’s a microsampler/ delay, reverb, and you can change their order, and I think there are some additional effects, processing etc. I’d recommend watching the Knobs demo, which got me interested back in the day.
I had one for a lend and used it on a few tracks.
I just used it for effect, nothing really solid if you get me. Time warping, delays etc. I ran keys through it mostly.

I wouldn’t imagine having use for it as a bass pedal in a real setting. If it were €235 then I might have considered it.
It sounds great for that ambient guitar, house plant, ply desk thing that the knobs demos do so well.

Thanks for that. I think I'd be ok with a mono one - would probably put either put my bass or a mono Moog through it. But not sure that this is really something I'd utilize that much - haven't fired up my synths in a few months (last time was mid-February) and have been mostly been playing "regular" bass. Thanks for the Knobs demo rec - that is pretty amazing! I like what the pedal does but again not sure I'd use it that much.
In fact, now that I think about it, I still need to figure out Clouds!
That clip is cool - sounds are great - thanks for the insights. I'd be using it on higher-register bass stuff and synths most likely.
Part of me is like, yeah I don't need it. Another part of me is like, that could be cool to work into a tapestry, maybe with my 8-string bass or Bass VI-side of my Alembic doubleneck...
The clearance price makes the Mood tempting but then I think about how complicated it is and how much of my equipment I am still learning things about. I don't think I need to blow money on another steep learning curve toy at the moment.
Still, though, it is a cool pedal.
Hmm, reading the reviews on the Reverb page, I'm starting to get tempted. Looks like the kind of pedal where you let it lead, rather than try and make it do something. I am more the former, so maybe I should grab one?! I'll think about it...
By posting about it on TalkBass, the assumption is that you want to be talked into buying it. So, by all means, help yourself! Just make sure you post pictures and clips.
That is often true, but in this case I like being able to think things through, and get advice as well. I've had my eye on a couple of basses - stuff anywhere from $1000 - $3000 - some interesting Atlansia basses have popped up, then somehow I got fascinated by Dingwall, plus there's a dealer in my town. But then I had to drop $2K on my car, so even if I was serious, no new bass for me. I don't need one anyway, gotta use what I've got!
Effects on the other hand...
I’ve had a MOOD for several years now. Probably 90% of the time I use it for its granular asymmetric reverb. The “always listening” looper would get a lot more use if the clock noise/artifacts weren’t so overt at long delay times. I like it…but perhaps not so much that I would recommend it. :::shrugs:::
They're restocking the Backlengs in a few months. I've never heard one in the flesh but the demos always sounded better to me than the Mood and it seems a little less hacky.
They're priced similarly to the current special offer.

I think the granular delay sound has had its day (in my opinion obviously) and there are plenty of similar plugins you can check out if it's your thing.

Thanks for that. The Balkengs looks awesome - I'm all about interesting, unusual pedals!
But don't tell me I missed the boat on granular delay! Crap!!! just kidding, of course I did! Actually, the thing that got me into it was a really long reverb tail on a track from the first post-Edgar Froese Tangerine Dream album. That's partly why I got the Maneco Drone Grone, because it has Clouds built in. But it's not easy to use - and the Mood might allow for a more plug & play interface.
Realizing also that I don't have access to a lot of stuff because I don't have a contemporary DAW - my ProTools is from 2012 at the latest lol.
Might be sacrilege but anyone had any experience with the GT1000core? I'm interested in having a play at trying to do more ambient/post rock sounds just to experiment and learn more about using reverbs and delays along with other modulation I've always stayed away from in the past.
I did have the Core previously and replaced it with compression, preamp and drive pedals which got me the perfect tone for the music my band plays. It integrates perfectly with my current board but just curious what peoples thoughts are.
The other option is the Mod Dwarf which looks far more capable for this kind of stuff and lets you craft some pretty impressive sounds but doesn't integrate as well due to reduced I/O. The Dwarf appeals to my nerdier side.

You know Mod went into bankruptcy, right? Not sure where they are at now but a lot of the promised features for the Duo never came.
I have no experience with the Core but Boss pedals work great. It's just if you are ok with the programming interface, etc. You could definitely do ambient with it.

you could do ambient with a single cassette and the pause tape technique.
no rules, just work on the craft.
