Ambient/Post-Rock/Textural bass playing thread

On the off chance anyone’s interested, I did my first patch on the Waldorf Largo. The software is like 10 years old, but they’ve been doing lots of updates along the way. Gets crazy fast if you want. This is a single patch played into Logic live, then tweaked a bit

He does a bit of workflow stuff at the end and it really doesn’t strike me as a live performance machine. It’s much more of a program and play. Maybe he just didn’t demo it well, but the video was not igniting my GAS for either device.

Same here, I suppose :)
Kinda thinking of checking out a Squarp Pyramid

I’m just starting to get into synth programming. Always been more into sampling...kinda still am, but I’d like to learn synthesis better. With an incoming 6 operator FM synth, I may have bitten off more than I can chew, but I’m gonna try :)

yeah. and that thing has a lot of polyphony.

for me (and i haven’t looked at how your new thing is set up), a lot of the magic is the number of oscillators and how many mod slots you have. having different oscillators panned differently with different envelopes and lfo speeds can create a lot of interesting movement.

the iridium looks to be interesting from that standpoint as you can have some radically different sounds for each oscillator and you have a 40-slot mod matrix.

fm is kind of a different beast. do you have any experience with it?

i just looked at the specs. looks insane. a stylus might be in order for the touchscreen? depends on how big your fingers are.

my take is that it looks very deep and like there’s gonna be a fair anount of menu-diving.

not super-intuitive for me, but i think you’re more technically oriented than me.

I decided to liquidate some goodies from an old hobby and raised half of an ASM Hydrasynth!!!! Gotta move some more of that to cross the border, but I'm already starting to browse what's in range...I REALLY want a moffenzeef stargazer and also just caught wind of this thing!!!!!

That looks like fun

Pretty cool. Reminds me a bit of the Folktek Resonant Garden.

I've had one of these on my GAS list since I got to play with one and meet the builder last spring at Moog Fest.

A little here and there over the years. It’s could likely be a nightmare, but I’m looking forward to the challenge.

Im not that technically minded. I just like funny sounding noises :)
