so, now that we’ve made fun of prog, i thought i’d pull this out. i watched it recently and found it funny cause it reminds me of stuff my friends have played that i enjoyed. but it’s merciless in its skewering of art world pretension. (i learned about from friends who hated it for the very reasons i found it funny.) they did some really things with sound design.

This is incredible because it's so close to the truth....hahaha. I'm sure we've all seen things like this in real life. Amazing.

one seemed pretty put out by it. another said it was funny cause it was too close to the bone. that’s when i knew that i had to give it a try.

i was literally turning to my spouse, saying, “oh, so-and-so does that. i love when she does that.” made it all the better for me.

So I've just started watching this movie and within three minutes I was triggered...hahahahahaha. Harsh.

...and to be fair, at this guy's concert at the beginning, that would be considered a damn good turnout at most clubs in NYC. Hahahahahaha

I would say we need a parody video making fun of electronic music, but no matter how over the top parodic you try to make it, some people will think it's an actual serious performance.

here to say I loved the Tool video and the trailer. Both are pretty close to the bone. My wife can’t do cringe comedy so I may have to wait awhile to see the movie.

That's good, so is the Halley's Comet music video posted a couple pages back. But to make fun of the local scenes, there would be no plants, just folding tables and a few chairs and maybe a cinder block wall in back and like 3 people, all other performers themselves, watching. Lots of homemade junky-looking noise devices on the tables. That describes so many electronic shows I've been to and participated in. It's hard to make a parody of it when it's about as stark as it gets already.

tbh, as much as we can make fun of this stuff (and i try to keep a sense of humor about myself and what i do), i think it’s important that people try to express themselves … even when we’re abject failures at it.

seems to have a certain nobility to it.
