American Vintage Reissue's - Show 'em if ya got 'em.

JTE, those D'Addario SloWounds must be pretty old! They haven't made them for awhile. That's all I used to use until I switched to flats several years back. (And they sound great even when they ARE old!)

Most of my basses now wear Chromes.

No, they were brand spankin' new when I used them. That's a list of all the strings I've had on that bass since I bought her in 1983. I used the SloWounds on her once, and used them on my Hammer Cruise (with a 2-TEK), and a pre EB StingRay for a few years. But I had to special order them in extra-long so they'd fit the 'Ray and I broke a lot of G strings on the 2-TEK so I started trying DRs. The Precision was the test bed for new strings since it's the bass I'm most intimately familiar with the sound of.

But after I kept going back to the same set of Joe Osborne flats, I decided to just keep that set on her. The Lakland Classic 494 is the new test bass.

That's quite the pair. I'm a sucker for a Jazz with blocks and matching headstock.

This is my pre-07 (not sure of the exact year) AV 62 P-bass. I absolutely love it to death. The neck is one of the most comfortable necks I've ever played on, it's nice cause I have big hands, and unlike a lot of people I like the nitro'd neck instead of satin necks. It was a floor model, so I got it for $1100 instead of $1499 as it was at the time. BTW, these are now $1959 brand new. I use Rotosound Swing Bass strings that I've kinda let go dead, they've been on since October. I'm eventually going to put the ashtrays on (has anyone had problems playing with them on? I normally play close to the neck finger style).

4-Jazz basses 5-1957-P's, 4-1962-P's.
To me the best were the 1982-1985 era basses.
I now have.
A Black 1982-1957 P-Bass.
A LPB 1983-1962-P-Bass.(de-fretted, epoxied)
A 1985-CAR Jazz body, with 1982-1962-P-neck.
A 1996 Sunburst 1962 P-Bass.

Made in the US of A. I traded my '92 Thunderbird for this about a month ago. Someone converted it to fretless. It sounds great. I was planning on getting the frets replaced, but a Stingray HS came up on ebay that I had to have. So, I'm actually getting ready to sell this guy on e-bay to pay for the SR I just bought.

I have them on both of mine. I play finger style and have no problems. I use the pup cover as a thumbrest. Without the cover, my fingers seemed to drift over the pups and with such a low action, I was always bumping into the pups with the tips of my fingers or the strings. I guess I need them as a crutch to cover a bad technique but the fact is that I also love the way they look.
Someone here on TB once likened the covers to the chrome found on classic American cars of the late fifties & early sixties. I like that!

That's real nice but I thought that all the AV series had Vnnnnnn serial numbers. Is that only true for the '57/'62 models I wonder?

Nice. I have got to get a scale to weigh mine. I "think" that the VM TB is still my lightest bass but my two AV's are
close...as far as I can guess.
