Ampeg SGT-DI

No one has posted for a while so wondering if this has fallen off....

Does everyone still have theirs or moved it on? I'm really digging the tones I get from this, even more than, dare I say, the venerable Origin SV. The cabsims sound good, but it is a balance trying to get the volumes even and keep from clipping. I uploaded the B15 and EBS IR's from Shiftline and they sound great! I use mine at church besides home and get a really good IEM tone. Overall I really like this peda!
I still have and use mine, def loving it!

Sweet rig. You inspired me to try a Nightowl Edison so I have one from the new batch on its way!
Very nice, I think you're gonna like it.

The Edison is definitely nice, and I also think you'll be pleased with it.

Still have my SGT-DI, but it's not currently on my board for my main 80's pop/new wave gig though... Went in another direction for a preamp, based on conversation with our sound engineer who is also a bassist and has a great ear for pop stuff. The SGT is too good to get rid of though, I'll be hanging onto that one for a while for when I need the Ampeg sound. :)

5sg.

I have both a SCR-DI and an SGT-DI. I use them for different purposes. The SCR I use for personal practice. It is integrated into my computer sound system so I can practice quitely. I live in an RV park. The SGT I use for ampless stages. It is really great.
Great point. I also use the SCR on my home practice board.

Yep, it’s on my studio board and it gives me nice alternatives to what I’m using with my plugins. I’m partial to the B-15 tone, but a clean SVT has some nice weight behind it. I’m also a fan of the Shiftline IRs, and am trying to love the Ampeg IRs as well!

The B-15 itself is worth the price of admission. I go back and forth between the Shiftline B15 and the Ampeg. You definitely have to play with the cab level for both (the Shiftline may be less "hot").

I’m
I've really been enjoying the combination of the SGT and the EQD Blumes, especially the Blumes' transparent boost mode.

It feels like it gives me a 3rd channel on the SGT: Preamp, SGT, and SGT'er 😂
I’ve had the Blumes since it was released and I’m just barely now figuring out how to play nicely with the SGT-DI. I find it’s overwhelming when I stack both stages, but blumes into the clean SGT-DI is “chef’s kiss”.

Good point. For those who ignore the dial on the side, they risk fully enjoying the pedal. I’m doing the same as you, traveling between the two B15s, but maybe lean a little more the Shiftline’s version because it seems to be more open. I feel all of the Ampeg IRs could use more clarity. To me, they’re kinda dark. I also like using Plugin Alliance’s B-15N amp. Very nice!

I agree about your description as "more open" for the Shiftline B-15. Hmm, I'll have to check out the Alliance one!

I use mine exclusively for silent practice and learning songs. The band has been on a bit of a dip lately, so I haven’t used it in a while, but I’m now jamming with some new people, and was using it yesterday. Dayum, it sounds good. Passive PJ with Pure Vintage P and J pickups, tone up or tone down, grit dialed up around 10:00-12:00, EQ flat. Pleasure to listen to.

I'm a little late to the club, but my SGT DI just arrived. Being rash as always, I used the wrong power cable from my Pedal Power.
Instead of a current doubler to get 500mA, I used a voltage doubler and got 18V. Of course the pedal didn't work. When I realized the mistake, I connected it to the adapter that originally came with the pedal, and everything seems to work as it should.
Could I somehow damage the pedal by connecting it to 18V?

Thanks

Are you asking to be able to run it at 18V regularly instead of the spec'd 9V or if you may have damaged the pedal? If it seems to work now I would think no damage done. You could always reach out to Ampeg and field that scenario and see what they say.
