I was thinking of picking up one of those chameleon enclosures

This is the second one I've bought, the bigger S90 one came out pretty sweet. The C65 is the only size I've seen left on the usual US vendor sites, but I'd been wanting to do a few 125B-ish builds for a while anyway.

Finished this one today:



It's the Briggs Diamante compressor (simplified version of the Diamond compressor) but built to the specs of the bass version. I designed and had a custom PCB fabricated to fit inside this enclosure after running into some problems with the circuit. Now it works fine and looks even better! Stonework paint courtesy of my partner again (another great job). Quite happy with how this turned out!

Anyone made the Bajaman opto limiter and know how to fix the overdriving when it’s on? Threads on free stomp boxes has lots of suggestions for what causes it and no solutions
Also is there a better thread on tb to ask this sort of thing?

Enclosure is the next step! The one after that is graphics and if I can be bothered I want to go to town on them (graphic designer from a fine art background it would seem rude not too!!)

The fix is to take out the LDR and put in one from Futurlec who were the suggested supplier at the start!

As a mod I added a switch that bypasses the 2k7 resistor … mainly as I saw that that’s what the comp/limit switch on a real LA-2A does - it changes the sound but I need to experiment a bit to find out what what it’s really doing…

Comparing it to the LA2A sim in my HX stomp it’s the same ballpark

I’m possibly going to need to do some modding as all the comp setting is at one end of the comp pot and it would be nice if it could be a bit more extream at the end of the pot if that makes sense…

That could be as simple a fix as changing the taper of the compression pot - I see that the schematic calls for linear, so if it's all bunched up at the beginning, try a log taper pot, or if it's all at the end, try a reverse log taper.

Schalltechnik_04 announced they are closing shop. Musikding wont be restocking. Pumperknickles are all gone. Missed a chance to build the best DIY compressor .

Another Deadend PCB: the Navaho is a supposed to be a recreation of the Spaceman Redstone.
I really like Spaceman stuff, I have built a few and also own his Nebula.

This is advertised as a boost/mild OD and it surely delivers.
Makes your signal big, fat and generally awesome and as soon as you turn it off, you're like "Eew, this sounds week and thin".

There's a GT308B from Retroamplis in there.
I also had to improvise with the pilot light as the footswitch didn't allow a bezel as planned ... So, the footswitch is now helping to hold the big "naked" LED in place.

Anybody here have any thoughts on Aion's Oceanid optical compressor?

IIRC, the build wasn't too bad and the documentation is typical Aion; clear & detailed.
The compressor wasn't my cup of tea, but recently I haven't been liking any compressor, anyhow.

For instance...sold my DOD MilkBox like a year ago, and wasn't really missing it - but saw a good deal on an Earthquaker 'The Warden' so I brought that home, tweaked it and played around.
I thought "This is nice, but my favorite control is the stomp switch..."

All that to say, if you enjoy compression, the Oceanid is a decent one and the build isn't overly difficult.

Sweet build! I would like to build a tube pedal. Sorry but a few questions:

Is that a kit?
Is it starved plate design or high voltage?
Do you have the info on purchasing or rolling my own?
I still own a working Traynor YBA-1 but I have retired and it's too heavy to lug around.

I used factory schematics to create the pcb. The Pedal works internal with 210 volts.

With the news of Schalltechnik_04 closing up shop, I decided to hop on his two GUMA pedals.

I'd love to put them in the same enclosure, sort of a DIY Hot Wax, but I don't know how to handle the power. Do I just need to make sure it gets a 9V PSU spot that provides enough amperage?

Additionally, would there be an easy* way to incorporate a switch I could use to put one or the other "first"?
