Atrocious Customer Service from Gear4less

To the OP, if @agedhorse is unable to locate what you need, maybe reach out to David Nordschow himself? There’s a guy here on TB named Rip Van Dorn you might ask too. To the others online, if this not possible, please re-advise the OP.

Just an FYI. As an experienced CSR myself, if you get ahold of DN, you might want to just stick to the main points of your original request and not digress too much into your previous frustrations. He doesn’t own Eden anymore, therefore this would most likely be under the “doing you a favor” department.

I found this similar thread on TB that might assist you. Good luck.

At the risk of being helpful. Take a speaker out, find the x-over and take a few decent pics of the crossover and post to TB stating what problem you have (ie - no sound from tweeter) and proof that you’ve tested the tweeter in isolation. Someone will likely provide a list of components in the x-over.

Imagine having to work for this guy... "Your performance review was very exemplary. You did everything we asked, met all of our performance goals, and even saved the company significance amounts of money with your insightful suggestions. But we really hate you and you're fired."

Full Compass doesn't stock Eden fuses but still have a listing for reference.

Yes I do stock these now that I see it. The part number is Sylvania 211-2 (12.8V, 12.4W). It's an automotive part.

Note that there are similar looking bulbs with different voltages and power ratings that are not correct and either won't protect the tweeter or will overprotect. They are used in the trucking, marine and aircraft applications where the voltage is not 12V, or the power is different.

Do those chastising me for being irate at Gear4less realize that Gear4less BOUGHT EDEN??? Sheese! Based on the "Honda parts at a Jeep dealership" it would seem that some don't. But then again, that fellow apparently owns a jeep.

I would expect the company that bought Eden would offer some tech support for older products. I guess it's because the companies I worked for supported older products to the point parts were no longer available. And even after that we'd field a question about the value of a fuse or part. You know, that customer that you can either offer help or diss just might possibly buy something in the future, and the choice of where to purchase it could possibly be influenced by customer service... or lack thereof. What a concept!

And to those upset at this post in the incorrect forum, I posted in the amps and cabs forum, not sure what went wrong, Mea culpa. But I am surprised at the vitriol my unforgivable error produced. I will try to not darken your door with my musings in the future.

This link is to the manual for the
speaker cabinet. Unfortunately, it is
rather non-technical, and the wording
is kind of ‘flower powerish’, if that’s a
thing.
I totally agree with you about the
$hitty customer service.

These cabinets are for sale (see
photo attachment). I suggest that you
contact as many sellers as you can
and see if they would be willing to look
inside their cabinets. A quick reading
suggests that it’s a bulb that may
not be easily identifiable.
Thanks for this info. And the civil response.

FWIW, I would like to point out that there are three current lines of
speakers for sale with the Eden name
on them. Eden is owned by Gear4music, with all that it implies.
You can go to www. edenamps.com
and clearly see this.
I agree with the OP in that they should
at least acknowledge some responsibility for legacy support, or
at the very least attempt some support
rather than nothing.
I worked for 15 years as a service engineer for a US corporation comprised of 200 legacy companies
(ThermoFisher Scientific), and the corporation did try to support those
former companies.

Bye, Felicia

Most people realize that they bought the name, not all past parts bins.
Correct, they acquired the rights to the Eden name (branding), some remaining inventory and the IP, but none of the actual manufacturing assets.

Eden hasn't really been Eden since the early 2000's, going through several owners/operations since David Nordschow sold the company. The factory documentation was quite poor, typical of many companies in this industry at the time. When companies get sold, often times the institutional memory goes away, as does some of the legacy documentation... the new owners may not be able to help even it they wanted to.

I happened to recognize this specific part because I also used it in products around the same time.

Here's a pretty accurate history: Eden Electronics - Wikipedia

It's frustrating when a company doesn't support legacy products and I've had a similar experience myself recently. But a name-and-shame post doesn't always go down well.

Sometimes they simply can't, they don't have the necessary information.
