AudioKinesis Cabs Part VI...

I love the way my TC looks, but I'd be all about mounting a badge on it. I think a quality-looking badge alone would likely be enough to bring it out of "homemade" territory. (Though I don't think it looks particularly homemade.) I love the utilitarian nature of the cab. I don't have an issue with the round grill, and I LOVE the duratex. Infinitely more than carpet or Tolex. I might be in the minority, but Duratex is just the best option for a gigging cab in my opinion.
Duke designed this with the end user in mind. Nothing has gone overlooked, and every decision is deliberate. I see how resale value can be hindered by being relatively unknown, but I think a quality badge could go a long way. Heck, I'd make the whole baffle a logo if I could, but I know that kind of gaudy pageantry isn't Duke's style.

Branding and tech data (impedance, power...) certainly make sense. There are a couple of avatar cabs on my local CL. Been there for months, a 210 and a 115. Pretty low price, which makes them attractive to a lazy efficient person like me to keep in one of several practice spaces I frequent. Except for the avatar logo they have no other markings. Avatar has gone through many iterations of speakers and designs so there's no telling what's in the cabs without looking inside and maybe not even then.
I'm firmly in the functionality trumps aesthetics camp.
In Duke's case, I think adding a badge does make sense - might be more of a conversation starter than going badgeless.

Invariably I get questions about the cab from people because they think it sounds good. I tell them it is made by a mad genius that used to be in Idaho now in TX. The sound is the conversation starter rather than a logo - and maybe not having one helps prompts the discussion. ymmv.
Give me something that sounds amazing, and the rest tends to itself.
But, Duke, if you come out with branding (badges) for the cabs, I'll gladly put one on there loud and proud. I'll also put bumperstickers on my rack. Just sayin'

I've played gigs and on TV where all the badges had to removed or covered with black tape. I did get hassled for my latest bass by a guitarist for not being a Fender. It is a Sadowsky. In the words of Bugs Bunny: "What a Maroon." I like non-descript.

Y'all could always print out a tiny version of this and use it as a logo....and see if anyone gets it.
I came home last night to a Hathor 1203 on my doorstep. Now I'm looking across the room at the pair- can't wait to try it out tonight.
