HOLY CRAP! I just got their price sheet and compared what you're paying with dealer cost and you're probably paying less than shipping from Chicago to MKE.

The big 15 arrived today. I figured it HAD to be beat up, crapped out speaker,.....something wrong somewhere. :rollno:

To my pleasant surprise, the cabs in GREAT shape! :hyper: Not sure if that's the original EV speaker in it or not, but either way, it thumps!!!

Here's the "full stack" money shot. Will probably never use all 3 at once, but still fun to have. BTW, grand total for all 3 cabs, bought off GC's used website,...S15-D, $129.99, S12-D, $149.99, and last but not least, the S15-DB,.....$49.99 plus 20 bucks for shipping. :hiding::bassist::hiding::hyper: Thank you God for GC's sometimes amazingly stupid prices!!!

I just got my new Bag End S15-B stack a couple days ago from Bass Northwest. I've always wanted to get these speakers. I have no regrets. They are almost works of art. I ordered them with Speakons. About a three week wait. I don't know if it has been mentioned before, but the handle placement is not like pictured on Bag End's web site. They are horizontal, in a more logical orientation. I was glad to see this. Any suggestions for a supplier of custom padded covers for them?

Nice stacK! I love those birch cabs. I've thought about pulling the red carpet off of mine and staining them. I think I'll do it at some point, I'm just waiting for the carpet to be totally shot.

I believe it's the older cabs that have the handle in a vertical placement, that's how mine are. Given the choice I'd go with horizontal, but they work just fine either way.

As for covers: LeCover and Tuki make nice products. I was going to grab a set from LeCover myself, I just haven't gotten around to it yet. With the birch cabs I definitely would.

Thanks. I love 'em. I think the carpeted cabs utilize poplar wood. That might not stain as nicely as the birch. Thanks for the info on cover suppliers. Have you ever heard of Cloud 9 covers? Bass NW mentioned them. Kinda expensive. But then, so were the Bag Ends. I got 'em right before a 2013 price increase. It would have been almost $200 more per cab. Yikes!

I've got an S15-B with the verticle handles. Actually they are quite comfortable.

Got a good deal on a couple S15D's. Haven't had a chance to use on a gig yet, but the season starts soon. ;)

EDIT: Liked 'em so much I contacted the company and now I'm a Bag End endorser.

Hey, folks.
Sorry if this has been discussed already.
I see that the S12D + S15D combo is pretty popular.
This is exciting for me because not only are Bag End cabinets really well made and a great value, but an S12D is pretty good on guitar, too, and I'm poor, so I could certainly use a multi-tasker cabinet!
Some questions have already been asked about it, but I wanted to see if I could get some clarification on a few things.
I used to have a D12D that I ran with an Ampeg SVTIII-Pro head. I liked that combo a lot, though I thought it could have used a little more low-end. Also, it was kind of big and heavy, so I sold it for a lightweight GK combo.
Now that I'm actually gigging a lot more and playing bigger shows, I need to go back to a big(ger) setup!
My plan right now is to get an Aguilar TH350 to run through the S12D + S15D combo. I would use the S15D alone for smaller gigs and add the S12D for larger gigs when I want the TH350 to put out more power (4 ohms).
OK, so my questions:

-Though it's not a low-end monster, does the S15D put out any more low-end than the S12D?

-What does adding the S12D to an S15D do for the sound? Does it retain the low-end of the S15D alone?

-How are y'all liking the Tone Hammer heads with the Bag End cabinets? Does the 175w @ 8 ohm, 350w @ 4 ohm (w/ 2 cabinets) of the TH350 sound like a good match?

EDIT: Oh, I should add that I play neck-pickup only on a jazz bass with flatwounds, mostly in a blues band. I would LOVE to have a p-bass, but this setup works quite well for me now. So yeah, I'm into the old-school, warm, punchy tone, as opposed to the super boomy bottom, zingy top modern tone.

I'm on the fence about selling my pair of DB112's and springing for a pair of S12's or S15's (in oiled birch). I don't dislike the Aggie cabs. However, the oiled birch cabs are really speaking to me. I was wondering if any of you had any real world experience with the BE S12's and Aguilar DB112's. I am really interested to see how the two cabs compare as there isn't too much info on the S12's

Also, when comparing the BE 12s and 15's....how much different are the two? I looked and it appears there really isnt much price difference between the two....specs are almost identical aside from a few extra pounds and the dimensions. I like the compact form factor of the S12. However, if the S12 cant hang than it cant hang.

FWIW, I am using a jazz clone with an Aguilar TH500. Volume levels/needs are within normal ranges. Thanks!

The Aggies are going to have more low end than the Bag End's, but the BE's are probably going to be louder...especially the S15D's.

I haven't played the 12's so I can't compare them, but my 15's are the bees knees. Very clear and punchy cabs.
