bass fake to get chicks.

This reminds me of a conversation I had with my buddy YESTERDAY...god love him, but he's a real poser douche sometimes...
He has an Ibanez Soundgear bass that he got for free from a friend who found it in the garbage, and also a Squier Strat starter pack guitar w/ tiny amp that he got for Xmas from his parents - decent guitar actually. The Ibby isn't bad either, needs new pots...but I digress...
He leaves them set up in his bedroom but NEVER plays them, especially if people are over visiting (wouldn't want to embarrass himself, I guess). He has no idea how, except for some 8th note stuff I've showed him on his bass. Doesn't have a clue how to play a single chord on the guitar either.
Well, he's having a house warming party coming up because he just moved, and he asked me to bring my bass amp so we could jam at the party for the girls that will be there...
This is where I tell him "I don't feel like lugging my amp over, why don't you pick up a cheap one on CL, then you'll have something to keep? I'll help you find a decent one for jamming."
I sent him 3 different practice amps for under $40 locally off Craigslist...
He responds: "I'm going to spend $40 to buy a couple wall hangers so I can put these up in my new bedroom on display. Just bring your amp over, we only really need it for one night."
Seriously?

I play bass as well as guys double my age and experience (according to these guys themselves), write lyrics, play acoustic, sing... I front my 3 piece Christian rock group... I even have a hookup for free movies at Mall of Georgia's theater!!!
WHAT MORE DO THEY WANT FROM ME!!!!!
I haven't attracted anyone but other musicians who tell me how good I am, ask about equipment, tecnique, ask for lessons...
Oh well, I guess cars, money, and good looks are really all girls care for these days... at least at my school...
Screw it, I'll keep rockin' anyway. They'll see eventually. Maybe an out of town girl...

Anyhow I hope when I form a band that I get a girl guitarist. 
The funny thing is, I essentially did the exact same thing 20 years ago. I thought having the instrument, was what was important. When the ladies couldn't care less, is when I actually tried learning the bass. It got me out of the house more, and I met more people.
Ironically, I ended up marrying a woman that loves me, in spite of what I play......

I hope I didn't come across as an a$$. I don't mean to sound arrogant...or whatever. I was dead tired, maybe I worded that whole deal wrong. That last part about "screw it, I'll keep rockin'" means that I'll just keep playing, and hope that I'll find some girl. There was alot of joking going on there in that quote. Try not to take much I say so seriously...I joke alot. Sometimes you won't even realize that I'm joking. I kinda suck at it in all reality...

Dang, I realize now that that did sound like an a$$. Guys of TB, don't judge my attitude based on that whole bit about the playing good or the girls will see. I didn't mean to sound like a jerk. I did though. God, I hate it when I realize that I bragged about myself when I really just meant to say that I play well in my and others' opinion. Ugh, that sounded like bragging too...

Oh well, life goes on I guess. We all screw up with what we say... especially when we might as well be drunk from staying up late. My jerk rant aside, if I do play well, write, sing, and all that, and still girls don't care, what's a guy supposed to do? That's all I've really got besides academics...I'm not exactly Leo DiCaprio....
Um, the bass player does not get the chicks, he's wasting his time....now if he had a guitar, or posed as a lead singer, there ya go!
