There are a few innocent swimsuit scenes

And the infamous scene where a character is implied to have tripped and flashed her pantsu to the audience (nothing is directly shown).

These are the absolute worst scenes I can think of.
So depending on how sensitive your girl may be, I think the show would be perfect for getting her interested in music.

That seems pretty tame to me; certainly nothing worse than one would see on network television.

Just read the articles on that. The JB62/LH/3TS were selling out, but it makes me wonder if those fans actually had the right model in mind.

Also, is the special Mio bass you mentioned this?

Seems more like a tribute than a replication of Mio's "actual" bass. Some glaring differences: it's right-handed, has no threaded saddles, etc.
I guess you could compare this to a Flea Bass. In the same way, if you want to really have Flea's instrument, a Modulus or Stingray would be the way to go (ignoring the fact that Flea's forced to use a FB occasionally).

Well, it seems for certain it's the JB62/LH that everyone's been snatching up. You could follow the sheep, or go with your own instincts. Just keep in mind that Kyo-Ani deliberately added, not omitted, the details on the threaded saddles.

This tribute bass looks awesome and that's what I was talking about though Shibuya didn't respond to my email yet :(

Anyhow, it's time to go Sherlock Holmes, I got to have this bass, I'm so obsessive about this and obsessive about Mio (Seriously, by personality and a lot of other things I'm really similar to Mio, this is kinda scary sometimes ); -)

A little update, the sound of the bass can be achieved with a good Jazz Bass and a compressor, I believe a bit of overdrive on top of it (VT Bass I assume)

EDIT: and there is the JB62-VSP Bass...

It's some kind of jazz bass seems like the JB62-US with some "custom" pickups and a spiral bridge

I guess it doesn't get any more high-end japanese than that Fender, then. You should go for it!
The Shibuya edition, though, was sold out at the store where I got the pics from, and I bet it'll be the same story for virtually every store across Japan.
That's a good thing, though, IMO. Don't let that official-merchandise thing sway you! You sure as heck wouldn't catch Mio playing one of those, with the anime-plastered neck plate and cheezy "K-ON!"-labeled gig bag. You should go for the real, authentic deal!

I only want to cool neck plate if it's not plastered or a sticker over it as you, though I want to get the real deal, exactly the same JB62 (or US or VSP) Mio has, besides the fact it will be a right handed and not a left handed.

I sent mail the Kyoto Animation though I'm not sure they received it or if I typed the correct email address ><
Can you please go to their website somehow translate it and contact them regarding the exact bass model :(?

Anyhow, I still want to know the exact model of the bass, god it kills me that no one is responding to my emails, not even support regarding some other stuff that is not related to that :(

I have not read the entire thread, but is was reported on Sankaku that Fender Japan said it is a 62 jazz. (probably a reissue)

yea, i watch K-on. All the instruments in the show are based off real ones and use the real Brand names, instead of sound-alike brand names. So far I have seen Fender, Gibson, Korg, Roland, Marshall, Yamaha and Peavey.

And I did a LOLWTF on the "Fender" Les Paul... Giitah!

i can't link to the Sankaku article from here because it would violate the TOS but here is the quote they had from an official Fender Japan blog.

K-On! has proved a big hit for Kyoto Animation, but it also seems to be turning into a hit for Fender, who make the prominently featured bass guitar Mio Akiyama wields.

In fact, even the Fender staff are watching with approval…

Their informal blog post runs along these lines:

Wow! “K-ON!” is awesome.

Sakurakou Keionbu looks like hot stuff.

What’s more, the bass player Mio-chan is using quite a vintage jazz bass (the 62 JAZZ BASS), and she’s a lefty as well… it’s so moe.
