Bergantino AE212 - Just Released

I played on my Aguilar DB212 last night, and I really like the look of the AE212, but the casters, the fact I managed to snag it new at a stunning price, and the fact the sound is just beatiful, keeps me thinking 'do I need an AE212 AS well?'.

Im still on the fence. For me, nothing visually beats the DB series styling, although the Berg AE line looks very very VERY well made. I am a huge fan of tight quality control, and build quality, so the Berg will always appeal.

Right now Im thinking, should I get an AE212, or should I stick with what I have and enjoy it. The Aguilar is going nowhere, but a slightly lighter option is always nice, (hence the AE212 vs GB Neo x 212T).

Hmm....Ill think on. GAS is cruel. My only worry is that I dont appear to have the optimum amp for the AE212, and I dont want to sell what I have (Orange AD200b, RH450, LM3).

Hmm again!

Sounds like you are set and really don't need another 212. That DB212 is a fine cab, and IMO voiced a bit nicer for the RH450.

Point definitely taken. Sometimes I need talking out of buying when its clear I dont have the space for more gear.

I should just use what I have. I can sneak new amps in to the house as they are small....but cabs? Nope...they get noticed!

I currently have an AE410 and an AE210 powered most of the time by an M6. I use the AE210 for the "small stuff" and stack the AE210 on the AE410 occasionaly because I can and not becuase I need it. Lately I have been tinkering with the idea of replacing the AE210/AE410 with a AE112/AE212 setup and using the AE112 for the small stuff and possibly stacking a single AE112 ontop of the AE212 just because I can.

Anybody have any experience with a modular AE312? I know some here have used 2-AE212s which just seems overkill;). The AE112 is just easier for a one handed grab for a single trip then the AE210. I have had a single AE112 and loved it but for some reason traded it.

I would think that would be an awesome rig... a bit fatter than your current rig, although probably not quite as forceful and loud in an absolute sense.

The nice thing about the AE112 and AE212 stack is that the footprints are identical (I think... almost sure), and the port design is also identical (not sure if this makes a big difference in anything, but makes sense to have each cab be designed identically (i.e., rear ports, footprint, etc.), versus a combination of different footprints and front/rear ports with the AE410/210 stack.

Good point, I was thinking the same thing, actually.

And to be honest, I don't really consider the lack of cups to be a problem. The feet on those Berg cabs are big enough that 112 ain't gonna' move just sitting on top of the 212 anyway.

I should point out that there are enough times that I do have to stand pretty close to my rig that I have to plan accordingly. That may not be the general case.

Do the AE*12 cabs have boost as well as cut on the HF attenuator?

If so, IMO in the best case scenario, I'd at least try putting the 1x12 on top, cut the attenuator on the 2x12 to the minimum setting, and then boost the 1x12 attenuator to taste -- no interference between the two HF drivers and have HF info closer to your ear-level (as Chef said).
