Best Female Singing Voice

Best? I won't even attempt to "go there."

But... my 5 favorites? Sure.

Patsy Kline
Chrissy Hynde
Johnette Napolitano
Brody Dalle
Poe

Variety is the spice of life, and... this could change tomorrow. Except for Chrissy...

Loreena McKennitt.
Her voice sends shivers down my spine!

Tori Amos.
That edge of tears vocal style.
How can she sing this without just flat out losing it?

Connie Dover.

Katie MacMahon in this tune.
Always had a thing for the Irish female vocal style.
More spine shivers!

Tanita Tikaram.
A smoky,honey chocolate voice.
Check out the bass harmonics!

Magda Giannikou

I see a lot of names of singers that I like a lot, but which I never in a million years name as "the best". I'm a sucker for contralto, so my vote goes for Karen Carpenter, hands down. A close second would be Julie London, a far less known singer for our generation (her career peaked in the 50s and the 60s).
