Best headstock ever?

Personally, I'm more a fan of the Elan/Europa body/headstock.

I must admit to being partial to the brand...

I think most headstocks are goofy... Ibanez SR headstocks don't seem proportionally correct to me. I like in-line headstocks usually just because they make the instrument seem bigger. I also find 2x2 easy to mess up when restringing. I can never get used to it on a bench. Headless only looks cool with some body types.

I love the shape of my Fender, Ric and Hofner headstocks, although none are unusual. I have never owned an Ampeg Scrolltop or a Travis Bean, but I sure love those headstocks (below). I did get to play a TB1000 (#2!) at a rehearsal recently.

Long before internet I thought the Jerry Jemmott bass from the Jaco video was an Alembic... it has a lot of the things you'd expect... with the exception of that amazingly worked headstock... I think this is isn't Jerry's model, think his have 5-6 knobs on it.

I bought my 1981 Roadster in London in 1998. Love it.

Those tuners on the roadster original? I have an '83 Roadstar 780, its the highend of that model. I believe 780 is the model number that year, same headstock but I have Ibanez branded tuners (probably the same ones as on your Musician), those are aftermarket?

I know modern G&L headstocks don't have a lot of fans but I personally really dig them.
