I am not 100% certain, but this device works on a lot of other Boss devices directly into the USB port for Bluetooth connectivity to the Android or iPhone/iPad apps "Boss Tone Studio for GT-1000"
and would leave the GT-1000 Core midi ports free for other things.

Sorry to dig out an old thread but I‘m banging my head on a wall trying to get the BTS app to connect to the uHost. I can connect to the uHost from the iPad but BTS won’t connect and keeps saying wrong device. Has anyone actually got this to work properly? Would be really cool to be able to run the app on a mobile device with the GT-1000core. I think I saw YT video where someone used the WidiJack successfully for this so I might have to swap the uHost for the WidiJack. Any experience with these things yet?

This sounds silly but have you definitely got the right app downloaded? I think when I first tried it I accidentally downloaded GT Pocket or something not realising it was a separate product.

Had a thought and wanted to run it past people before tearing my pedalboard apart again.

Been playing with the Mod Dwarf, currently have the OC5 with the direct out into a Fuzz, then into Input 1. I then have the +1 -1 signal going into Input 2. This means I can keep the octave signal separate and apply a separate set of FX.

On the Core though I have all my drives in a mono FX loop and the 2nd FX loop is spoken for. Could I run the Direct Out from the OC5 into my drives as per usual, then run the Output (+1-1 signal) back into the Right input on the Dwarf? Presumably, if I ran a loop and kept Pan L/R I could manage them separately without creating any crazy feedback loops?

the WIDI uHost should work, it has drivers built in for most Roland/Boss gear.
Did you do the WIDI firmware updates and setup first ? (uses the WIDI phone app)

Also make sure the uHost is not already paired to any other device, the Boss phone apps like to do their own device pairing.
I tried everything but couldn’t get it to work with the uHost. However, the WIDI Jack arrived today and works perfectly with the GT, which even powers it through the 2.5mm TRS MIDI out. There should be a compatibility chart for the uHost. It works with a little more than half of my USB Controllers. The others are probably not class compliant USB MIDI and require special drivers to work. So thumbs up for WIDI Jack with the GT core. Maybe there will be updates for the uHost to make it compatible with more devices. Would be nice…

Sounds interesting. This is what I love about the GTC. There are literally an unlimited number of possibilities.

Absolutely! It’s insanely powerful for such a small unit. It’s a perfect middle ground for me between flexibility and convenience. The Dwarf is way more flexible and powerful in digital processing but limited by IO, aggregation of effects and lack of on-device editing. The HX is limited by power and flexibility but has way more built in ready off the shelf effects.

Also I was having a play with the Concert preamp and it’s actually pretty great, not enough to knock the CAPO off the board but it’s won me over on the GTs amp modelling.

Noticed something odd, I have all my drives in FX loop 1 and a divider set so I can bypass them all in one press without any tap dancing.

When the divider is bypassed I can still hear high end from the Fuzz especially bleeding through.

Yes, unfortunately you have to zero the output from the 'path not selected'. It (muting the input of the path but not the output when selecting paths) makes sense if you have a delay on the 'path not selected' and you would like to have tails on that delay I guess!

Good to know, gonna need to add an assign to sort that. You’ve saved me a load of head scratching though!!!

BOSS - KATANA:GO | Personal Headphone Guitar Amplifier

I already preordered mine. I am so incredibly pumped for this. I've been using the very basic fender mustang micro and it's been killer. But this makes that obsolete. Especially when I read you can connect the wireless foot switch as well?!?! You can't beat this for practice or travel.

Yeah sounds pretty impressive from demos. Keep us posted!

Did anyone manage to get the Ampero Switch to work with the Core?
When I am trying to use mine to do a +1 or -1 preset, it starts scrolling through presets and does not stop. I tried multiple settings but to no avail.
I have a Boss FS7 (momentary switch setting) as well who does the job well, but is way bigger. So I would like to use the Ampero Switch instead.

Had the same problem with the ampero press II and with any other foot switch that was normally open and closing the circuit when switching. I swapped out the contacts by resoldering the switch and now it works with the GT core. Maybe you could do the same with the ampero switch. Or get another one that can be switched to normally closed.

Over two years after getting my GT-1000Core, during which time I have more or less dedicated it to guitar use only, I decided that I'm a little nervous about the robustness of my DSM & Humboldt Simplifier and Simplifier Bass Station, so a couple of weeks ago, I sat down to see if I could program the Core to be my "all in one" solution for guitar. (I will talk about bass in a bit, I promise.)

I pretty quickly realized that I'm very happy with the Boss AIRD amp models and cabinet IRs, as well as the Boss X Series drives (I'm already using the BB-1X and BC-1X on my main bass pedalboard), on guitar, so I've decided I'm moving away from the Simplifier and my analogue drive pedals and going all-digital for guitar, with the Core plugging into a Countryman Type 85S stereo direct box to feed the PA or recording console.

I've come up with a number of patches for guitar that sound amazing. But...for my performance needs, there are a few limitations in the Core I can't work around. However, it didn't take me very long to realize that the easiest, smallest, and cheapest work around was to simply use two GT-1000Cores. So, now I am committed to rebuilding my main guitar pedalboard around two GT-1000Cores, two of which will still cost substantially less than, be physically smaller than, and use less power than a Neural Quad Cortex or Fractal AX9 or Fender Tone Master Pro, none of which offer Boss' proprietary effects that I love, anyway.

The only pedal I can't replace with the Core is my Digitech FreqOut (Boss' Feedbacker algorithm is poopy), and I'll still keep a separate tuner (because Peterson's sweetened tunings). All of this will fit on a pedalboard that is 385 mm x 290 mm, small enough to fit in an airline underseat "personal item" (at least, in the US, where the allowance is usually 18" x 14" x 8"), and draw less than 1800 mA of current. The only problem is, no one actually makes a pedalboard this size, so I have to have it custom fabricated for me.

I'm considering either a GigRig GenX14 or a Mono medium (6-ports @ 500mA each) power supply to power it all. The Cioks DC7 would also work, but their unfortunately choice of the use of RCA jacks would mean some really clunky wiring, since the Core draws 670 mA and requires two 500mA ports (or in Cioks' case two 660 mA ports) to power it. The GenX14 would be the cleanest but most expensive solution, the Mono the cheapest.

And so, the next step of my research is going to be figuring out if I can make the Core work for me as an all-in-one solution (minus the DI box, extra footswitches, and tuner) for bass.

For bass, of course, my effects needs are simpler, so I have no worries about whether or not it has the processing capability or the precise effects I want, but because I haven't ever tried to use it without the Simplifier Bass Station or without my Mesa/Boogie Walkabout amp, I don't know how much I'm going to like the sound of the Core on its own for bass. It should be fine, but I have a few other tasks to complete around my house before I can dedicate time to this.

I don't, however, need two Cores for bass; one is more than enough. And so, just to keep me from carrying a pedalboard bigger than I actually need for bass, and to prevent me from having to disassemble and reassemble pedalboards, I'm actually considering a total of *three* GT-1000Cores, two for my guitar board, and one for my bass board.

By the time I am able to acquire enough funds to actually *buy* two more Cores, five FS-7s, and at least one Countryman Type 85S (I have a mono Type 85), Boss may just have already announced the GT-1000 series' replacement. :roflmao:

And an endnote, for people debating using the Core, you should bear in mind that it is exactly the same size as two regular Boss pedals plus the space between them in a Boss BCB pedal box, and costs only $600 USD, or the price of 3-5 regular pedals at $125-200 USD, yet provides so much more functionality than what you could otherwise fit into the same space, or even into 3-5 times the space.
