^ thanks.

there is no such a thing in the MS-3. I might look into the Core in more detail.

Although the Core has only 2 FX send/returns instead of the 3 that the MS-3 has, these 2 S/R can be placed independently in the FX-chain instead of being in 1 'row' (MS-3).

The 3 footswitches on the Core can not be used to select preset 1, 2 and 3.
The Core can have really complicated patches (4 parallel signal paths) that could make it possible to have more than 1 sound in one patch.

Just some observations I remember from when I was comparing Core<>MS-3 :)

I have the Radial J48 active DI. I use it for recording a dry bass signal of my passive P Bass. Really like it, great brand. I think the best DI for a MFX would either be the Radial JDI or ProDI passive DI. if it were me, I’d be send only one bass signal to FOH to deal with, which would be from the GTCore. Seems like a simpler method.

When you have a DI on an amp set to post I’m assuming that would also be post effects send?

So I could have a L/R split on main out, one to a mono DI box on my board for FOH with cabsims, the other to my amps return with the option to also run a DI of from the amp?

Not quite sure if I’d ever want to or need to but just trying to get an idea of what I want for my board.

I definitely want a decent di box like the radial or walrus canvas because most of the ones I’ve been given at venues have been beaten up cheap boxes that are probably striping out lots of carefully crafted tone!

So I just got a Katana 210 today, and though I need time to dial to dial in the whole preamp/FX situation, just plugging the CORE into the power amp of the 210 is glorious! Plenty of power and punch, and the low end has a really nice heft to it. And it really isn’t THAT heavy. Much easier carry than the SWR Gjr. and the 350x in a road case I swapped it for.

I was wondering how the GTCore would integrate with a Katana Bass Amp. Congrats!

Good to know! I feel like the jdi would be a little overkill for live but it’d be great for recording. I will see which one my finger clicks when it comes to spending the money

JDI stuff is awesome. I used to use one for guitar, instead of micing my actual cab I would just use the JDX48 and it sounded EXACTLY the same as my cab honestly... But JDI stuff is not inexpensive.

I personally think something like that is overkill for bass unless you are planning to send your bass's direct sound to FOH, bypassing the GT1000 entirely. If you are running from the GTkcore to FOH...or perhaps as part of a pedalboard where the final result needs to be split, one to your amp and the other to FOH...there are much less expensive and decent sounding splitter DI's that you'd want to use...I don't think the GT1kcore has balanced outs and I believe its line level(?). So you'll probably want some kind of DI...typically something similar to what you might use for keyboards... line level. When I get ready to gig with my BOSS modeler, I will use a DI that is designed to take line level input, send out balanced XLR to FOH and pass thru the line level on a separate output that I will connect to my amp's FX return. These are not that expensive like the JDI stuff and don't need to be.

Anyway, everyone's setup is a bit different but I think the JDI stuff is absolutely phenomenal but its rather expensive and you really don't need it unless you are planning to actually send your bass's direct sound directly from the bass to FOH..in which case you might want to consider something like that. But then why are we talking about it with the GT1000?

I got my mate to drop off one of the Mackie thumps today to start working on some sounds. I have one of my bass rigs at home, but I wanted to hear it out of a PA speaker since I go direct to PA 95% of our gigs.

Is anyone using a Headrush FRFR 112 speakers? price is what caught my eye

I’ve looked at this FRFR cab quite a bit and everything I’ve read has been very position. Most of the reviews are bass players using the HX Stomp or LT. I’ve also seen a couple of positive reviews of guitarist using the Headrush cab. So I’m assuming it should sound good with bass.

I think for me I’m not ready to say goodbye to an amp. I do think there’s something about having an proper bass amp behind you (even if it’s pretty small) that I’d miss.

As superficial as it sounds I don’t think it’d fit with the kind of music I’d want to be doing. I’d be happy with just an FRFR speaker for doing any folky gigs or if I ever joined a covers band perhaps but for original rock/heavier stuff it’d just feel weird.

I have read people complaining this Headrush FRFR112 not having enough 'heft'...

I am certainly interested in the FRFR concept. I 'strive' to have a good signal going to FOH so why not send that exact same signal to my monitor (or my stand-alone amplification system for that matter) instead of a different signal that is tailored to a 'colouring' bass amp/cab.

For me there is a disadvantage to this, in my 'scene' it's common to share backlines and that would be difficult because other bass players might/will need a 'colouring' bass amp/cab system. (however they might/will also complain about my Hartke 410/HA3500 set which also does not provide the amp/cab colouring needed for sludge/doom/gaze :D:laugh:)

Some time ago I read a thread on this FRFR stuff and I think the consensus was, if you want something that can also work as a stand-alone 'bass amp' you need something like a QSC K12 (at $900 much more expensive than the $500 Headrush 112, which makes sense because how much 'traditional bass amp' would you get for $500 ?).

Yeah apparently the katana is super flat which makes sense as it’s all digital preamps and cab sims. Cool idea an much more flexible if you ever wanted to ditch the GT and just strake the katana, from what I’ve heard it’s pretty impressive.

Still not sure it’s as cool looking as an 8x10 with a 40kg rack amp on top but far more empathetic on the body.
