Boss GT-10B

Thanks CRUSIE! I was only playing a single note at a time so that wasn't the problem. If I put the volume on the bass all the way up it makes all the difference.

No problem. Just glad I could help:) BTW you can turn up the input of the pedal under system. Think that might help since it's a passive bass. Personally I use an active with it so its pure guessing on my end. Regarding the phantom power protection I can tell you guys that my pedal has been connected with phantom. Didnt make much difference. And it still works perfect

Gastric: I think that sounds really cool. I'd like to hear a variation that's all GT, if possible, as I would definitely make use of such a patch.

Crusie: It's good to hear that someone's GT has survived the phantom power menace. Sad to say that I'm still scared and confused. Can't help wondering why the Roland folk say "Don't apply phantom." Maybe it's just a generic response.

The first run of it is all 100% GT-10B only. The second run adds in the filter in the FX loop. I tried to grab a patch but my floorboard app is crashing for some reason.

I whipped up a page to store my sound samples and patches. BOSS GT-10B sound samples and patches - cgraham.com

This is a big help and I'm very impressed with the sound quality.

Would you mind recording samples of the compressor and chorus please?

Thanks

I'll try to put up some bread-n-butter type rock sounds in the near future. The chorus and modulation sound excellent, as with most BOSS multieffects. Keep in mind there's mono and stereo chorus, plus a 2x2 chorus that lets you split the signal via a crossover and apply different chorus parameters to each frequency band, plus you can run dual signal paths and apply chorus that way as well for various blends (frequency, dual-path, envelope based blends).

So many options besides just regular Joe Chorus.

Anyone care to explain to me when, why, or how chorus is used with the bass?

Thanks

when? whenever you want. I find its best used in conjunction with fretless basses.

why? self expression, matching a recording, angering the guitarist :)

how? often for verses... Nirvana used it for some songs effectively

Thanks guys, I am both a guitarist and a bassist :hiding:
And I am pretty knowledgeable with guitar effects and applications, but still learning on what and when/how to apply most effects on bass.
With the GT-10 you have (guitar version), you won't fully appreciate the way that the effects are mixed on the GT-10B, it is quite different to the guitar version in many aspects.
The main difference is he GT-10B allows mixing the dry signal with the effect on most effects, so you still retain that mud free punchy bottom end, that is lost with a guitar dedicated effects unit.
I think the closest you will get is to use one channel as a dry path, and use the other channel for the effects, and mix the two together.:bassist:

Thanks Gum, I got a ME50B to use with bass for that very reason :hyper:
I am really digging it, trying to get a good swell pad tone, and IO am having some suscess, but still not as nice as a guitar can get.

Any suggestions?
A GR-55 would give you all the pads you could shake a stick at, it's a great bit of kit, the only down side is the bass amps are mediore and the chain routing is not as nearly flexable as the GT-10B.
But really cool sounds, including percusive loops, pads, synths, almost any sound texture.
Play guitar on a bass or play bass on a guitar.
The GR-55 paired with the GT-10B is an ultimate KILLER !!:hyper:
