It’s like the bob marley of bourbon...everyone likes it...the snobs and the uninitiated
Their plain old single barrel is fantastic as well. Their regular bonded ain’t too shabby either. EW is always money well spent and off the shelf is a bargain when you consider the pedigree (ie not completely fabricated by the massive MGP commercial distillery in Indiana, which a huge chunk of bourbons and rye folks tend to think rather highly of actually are.)

Hey, I'm enjoying an Old Forester mint julep this evening. My wife and I, and her parents, did a road trip to Louisville earlier in the fall. Her folks carried on down the Bourbon Trail, but she and I just did a one night thing in Louisville proper, which included a stop at the Brown-Forman facility on Bourbon Row, where Old Forester is made. I gotta say, I fell in love with Old Forester that day...It's within a buck of Jim Beam, and IMO, tastes remarkably better.
If I'm on a budget, EW is my go to. A solid Bourbon that's always easy on the wallet.
Have not had their Single Barrel yet.
I read up on the MGP thing a while back. Pretty interesting.
There are a few distilleries that are transparent about the fact that they use MGP products.
High West being one of them.
Been curious about the Old Forester. Will have to give that one a try at some point.
Many are, some are just a little crafty with the wording. It’s not to say some fine stuff isn’t coming out of that facility.

The Black Dirt is named after the soul in Orange County and is a young bourbon. There is better stuff for the price, but it is good stuff. The Hillrock Solera is also $$$, but damn good. I highly recommend it. IIRC, it is made by a former Heaven Hill or Makers Mark master distiller. I’m not a scotch guy, but their single malt is amazeballs. Finally the Taconic (formerly Millbrook) which is fairly priced compared to its other NYS siblings.

If you're trying to stretch your bourbon budget, but not sure which of the cheap stuff is any good, Paste Magazine did the research for you. A blind taste test, and no bottle was over $15. Yeah, $15:

Most of those are readily available around where I live. That white label Evan Williams is a real gem. I always grab a bottle when I see it.

I bought the pre-mixed Mint Julep from their shop in Louisville, after doing a distillery tour and all the things that entails. I've seen it in stores here in Michigan, but for some reason, the bourbon I bought here is a lot more rough than what they gave us as a sample in KY.
I first had the green label EW years ago, then moved on to the black label. Certainly worth the few extra bucks.
Never knew the white label existed until I saw it the other day at TW. Will most certainly have to get a bottle of it.

Years ago ,bluesman Albert Collins had a gig at a local showcase club. I was invited by his keyboardist backstage to meet Albert after the show.
Albert always sweated majorly when he played, so the first thing he did when he got offstage was change shirts. We go backstage but don't see Albert anywhere.
The road manager walks thru and grabs a couple of roadies, telling them, "come on, we gotta go load the Suburban."
Albert, always ready for a drink, sticks his head out from behind the curtain where he's changing shirts and loudly asks, " WHO'S GOT SOME BOURBON?!!?

I think I'd be afraid to try (i.e. spend money on) most of these. That being said, I've always been a big EW fan, and enjoy all of their offerings. I always have a big bottle of Black Label at the bar. I know I have a bottle of Single Barrel here, and there may still be some 1783 left out there too. All very underrated, IMO.
A buddy was just recently at the Knob Creek distillery. He hand-filled this for me, and even had the bottle etched for my bar. It's his fingerprint in the wax seal as well. Such a cool gift.

The SB is a surprisingly good sipper at that high a proof.
