Friday and Saturday will be at Clevelands' House of Blues.
We'll be in the restraunt room so any TB'ers in the Cleveland area ,stop on by.
I'll be playing my Dano.
I'm hopeing to hit the Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame Saturday morning.

2 Clubdates this weekend, one promises to be the all time gig from H E double hockeysticks. Was told that I need to set up at 2PM, guests arriving at 4PM, won't need me 'til 6PM, don't even look at the food. Thinks I need to chat with the party planner. I live somewhat close by ( I could live 60 miles away with that time schedule), I'm goin' home, tell me what time you're actually paying me from, Cya then.

My band is doing a wedding tomorrow night. that's the main type of work this band does. I play in other bands doing bars but this is my main and probably favourite one.

We have been together now for 10 years and are all still loving it. The last time we had a rehersal together was in 2001!

we learn new songs on our own and then play them on the night with no rehersal together. in all of that time, we've only been caught out twice - both were songs for the bride and groom's first dance.

Anyway - this is my first gig with the 30th Anniversary Stingray and I'm really looking forward to it. I'm not taking the 5 string stingray because I'm selling it to make way for my Modulus Flea bass.

the singer (who is also my boss) wants us to try about 7 or 8 new songs. I pretty much hate them all as they are by the lame bands that are circulating in the UK charts. I have managed to persuade him to try Dani California though which should be good!

The song "As For Me" on his myspace is a live recording of us at a coffee shop a few weeks ago. We took the song a little fast, so my part sounds a little too busy and rushed, but I'm still pretty happy with how it came out.

Well, it was a lot of fun. We were the 1st band there, and soundchecked around 1 pm. the backline was a new trace elliot head and 410 cab. Sounded pretty good, but I don't really like how my current bass sounds, so it could only sound so good to my ears.

But anyways, the showcase was a pretty cool deal. It was in this giant church called Riverbend, and they had the house band play the "intermissions" between bands, so everything went really smooth, and there was never any down time for the audience. And the bass player in the house band is one of the guys at Bass Emporium, so it was cool running into him.

Anyways, our band was totally on last night. I told Jerry after we were done that I don't think I've ever played his songs better. The drummer and guitar player felt the same way about their performances. So I think we came off really well.

But man... with all the different bands playing (and therefore different monitor levels for everyone), when we started, the electric guitar slammed through the monitors, twice as loud as everything else :hiding: I think the whole band jumped when he came in on the 1st song :eek:

The other bands ranged from mediocre to great. The bass player in the last band (the great one) played a ken smith 6 string and was a great player. He played great parts, and great fills, and was totally confident in his playing. And his sound was awesome.

Oh, haha... I signed an autograph.

One down: Easy 4 hour clubdate at the Trump National Golf Center. Good music but some bad direction and bad segues. New twist in my painful gig today. Two hours into the gig, the people are going to another tent to eat. Only the strings are following them. Even more downtime.

Just got home.
Weekend went well.We had a great groove all weekend.
Things got off to a rocky start when our hired drummer was 2hrs late .
We got a real late start driving to Cleveland.It was raining like crazy and the wiper motor linkage went out in the van. We got that back together in 30 minutes.
As luck would have it as soon as we pulled up to the back door we were given the O.K. to start loading in.
They were running late also.SO as far as they were concerned we were right on time.
I love watching the women run around that place .They're all dressed to kill and some are almost undressed.
We're booked to go back next month for another 2 nighter.

First outdoor show of the year for us. It was the Spring Release Party at Maryhill Winery, so it was a bit of a challenge to not try all ten of their new wines. The owners brought out a secret stash wine at the end for me to try though, which was killer.

We've played this place a bunch, and this year they offered us first choice of weekend and holiday dates for the whole season. It was quite cold and windy today, albeit a gorgeous day and a very well attended event. We're back to indoor gigs for the next month or so now, which is fine by me.

We played both Friday and Saturday nights this weekend. Friday was a normal bar show with a decent crowd. Nothing was too out of the ordinary except a friend of the family came to see me play and she became exceptionally trashed and yelled at us throughout the last set. Saturday night was more interesting in that we went acoustic and played a "supper club." They absolutely loved it and it was nice to see kids, their parents, and THEIR parents dancing to just about every song. It was a nice takeoff from the bar scene.

7 1/2 hours of gig
When the strings moved the leader forgot to tell me the whole band is moving
The house was able to fit 2 tents capable of holding 400 people each. And I defied orders: I looked at the food. I watched some of it go down to my stomach. Surprisingly, it was just mediochre

of the seating (tables) is kind of L shaped with the majority of the
crowd & the bar in front of the stage.

:crying: Just a rant! Hey, this new owner of Sabins just canceled us cause he double booked for that June 8-9 weekend, or so he says. A freakin month after our agreement! What jerk! Watch out for this guy! We got re booked at Tom & Jerrys which sounds like a better venue. I hope we take all his business that weekend.:hyper:

Wow, that sucks! So far I haven't heard much about him other
than he is from Chicago or something and survived getting shot.
Apparently he's a strong personality. As far as I know our gig
is still on for this weekend. I'll let you know how it goes.

Chisholm is an extremely small town. I don't know if you've ever
been there, but there's really one main street and all of the
bars are on it in pretty close proximity to each other. It would
be interesting to go over on one of your breaks and see the
other band that will be playing there on your weekend.

One good thing is that the people usually seem to be appreciative
of live music there (Chishom). We've played some street dances
there and the crowds are good.

Good luck at Tom & Jerry's, and thanks for the head's up.

Thanks for your support. We normally would'nt consider an out of town gig this far North but we are new and connected up with the Iron Range Blast II Concert and at the end of the night there will be jams with the guys from Savoy Brown, Crow and Lamont Cranston. How much better does that get?
Anyway our first full night gig is this Saturday at the SRO Lounge in Anoka. Will let you know how that goes next Monday.:D

I'll be playing my first 2 gigs this weekend. One on Thursday Mar 29th @ Supermarket in Toronto, and then again on Sat 31st at some sort of benefit that I don't have details on yet. I'm totally looking forward to it! :hyper:

My bands biker bar gig went over really well. We sounded great got compliments on the songs from the owners ,magr soundman and customers nothing was thrown at us and we had a blast. We have been promised to be called this week for a re-booking. I guess we worried for nothing but it helped us focus all the more.

A "standard" gig, but I personally had a blast, felt very free and flowing, and the set reflected that with a lot of jamming and putting songs together. I don't think our leader enjoyed it as much as the rest of the guys did, unfortunately.

The people who came to see us liked us a lot, but the rest of the crowd was extremely focused on finding Mr. or Mrs. Right, or at least Mr. or Mrs. RightNow, so we were not getting a lot of feedback from them. They did not leave, but continued to purchace drinks, so we got booked on the spot for another night. But the load-in and load-out are bad because of no access (you have to put your hazard flashers on in the street) and it didn't seem like we were reaching people, so I don't know how long we'll keep this gig.
