Cool. BTW, the silver one in the back in this pic is that "dedicated" bass I played (don't wanna' search for the OP right now, but maybe they'll chime in.) That bass was TOTALLY BADA$$. One of the punchiest AC's I've played in a long time. All the AC's there were really great, but this one just seemed to have a litte more of the "notes just seem to kind of explode out of that bad boy" thing going on. He should be very very happy with it. :)

That sunburst classic supreme makes me want to cry -- it's so beautiful!

I'm glad you posted this pic Vic. Because it's the pic (or bass) that made me "get" why Jimmy insists on using his expensive nitro guy... Just look at that sunburst. It's looks just like the '65 he has in the shop.

Jimmy even went through a comparison with me one day, using the guitar that Andrew Jones now has against the '65 J and whatever year P it is, but I didn't get it then.

This NAMM bass looked old and glorious.

Congrats to my friend Mitch Starkman on his new baby... And the rootbeer LM5 too!

In the case of this RA, it is actually a Tom Barney bass with 18 mm string spacing at the bridge and the pickups were routed for the shorted length. A~C pickups can be put in with no modifications.

That makes perfect sense - I could tell from the video that the length of those pickups was the shorter "normal" length. And sense Jimmy is making versions of his pickups that are standard sized its not like this was a custom route for the Aggies. Thanks for the clarification!

Thanks for the pix y'alls. It's great to see Marcus, Hadrien, and more cats playing these.
As usual the new basses look great.
If anyone knows of a narrow spacing ala Tom Barney or otherwise A-C that becomes available I'm interested. I absolutely dig my LG and KBP but just can't gig a 19mm 5 all night, I've tried to get used to it but me mitts don't hang. So I'm on the lookout for a skinny one for trade, purchase or whatever.

I believe there is one in the classifieds right now.

Thanks Ken, are you speaking of Jorgueras?
If so, I checked it out and it's 2 & 3/4 at the 12th which is the same as mine. I am so much more comfortable on the Sadowsky which is a smidge under 2.5 at the 12th.
If it's a different one chime in, I'm all ears!

That's the one... I just checked and it is listed as 'trade pending'. Looks like a nice one.

Funny how we all are sensitive to different things. I love the 19mm bridge spacing, but can't stand a less than 1 7/8's nut width (i.e., that thinner upper neck profile).

That being said, the A-C necks are quite wide, due to that extra fretboard space above the B and below the G. I love it, but it is 'big' versus the Sadowsky or Nordstrand necks.

This is SUCH a great pic! All killer basses and I love the angle. That nitro sunburst just looks amazing...

That is out of laziness my man... I was sitting on the chair right in front of those and didn't wanna get up... It did end up kinda artsy looking huh?

I ended up really liking the Gold Dinky body one... Magical!

Yes Tom, for all intents and purposes that is the only difference in the line as of now... It could be an LG, LM or RA spec, but the 18 mm makes it a Tom Barney model... For now at least.

Cool, thanks for the deets! And while I'm at it, I have to say, that Tom Barney is one cool cat. Helluva nice guy, and helluva great player!

are there any other clips out there with an ra played with the bridge pickup solo'd like that?

Yeah, I kinda look at the spec of that bass (alder/maple/70's) and figure that's what it would sound like...if Hadrien played it...

Ken, I actually like an OBP3 type pre on an RA5 type spec (my SB5000 is similar) because you can boost the mids a little to make up for the slight loss of pop from the bridge pickup. My .02.
