- I play it all. Whatever works for the gig. Q+
oh yeah the grooves were deep..
He had two bass players. Vail was on the gig playing some weird fender and the other guy that sat down on a chair and played a stingray 5 on a few songs at soundcheck
..
I didnt get to talk with the drummer so i dont know if it is the guy that you know.. but there was serious stuff going down in the rhythm section.. and i mean serious..!! YOu are lucky to paly with a drummer like that.. man.... it can be so easy with someone that knows how to groove...
With my rig and basses. i think i have reached s point of just being real happy....
Ive been really watching alot of Steve Vai and his mental technique lately... He is in another place musically...

I played about a thousand gigs (literally.... years of 6 night a week gigs) with Keb's drummer (until recently) Lavelle Bell. Amazing groove player.
The most recent Keb CD (The Reflection.... thanks to TBer Ric Vice for turning me onto this one, I kind of lost track of what Keb was doing lately) is simply stunning, with Marcus Miller, Victor Wooten, Ready Freddie Washington, Kevin McCormick, Andrew Gouche', Vail Johnson, etc., etc. It is probably the best collection of great bassists playing great grooves on one CD that I've ever heard. Amazing sections on those cuts
Nice picks! You do some amazingly cool gigs! I bet those basses and that rig sounds amazing!
