Club Alleva Coppolo (part 2)

Do any of you guys have a hard case for your Alleva Coppolo? I'm gonna use an Incase with mine but having a hard case would be cool for presentation purposes. :)

I would love to have a G&G hard case in tweed with red crushed interior. I think that would look very nice with the Sunburst finish.

Just wanting to make sure it'll fit with the longer headstock...

Mine is in a Sadowsky Portabag (LOVE IT!!) or a Sadowsky Ultralite case. (LOVE IT TOO!!) Mine fits fine in either and it also fits fine in my Incase Dub Bag so I am positive it would be fine in a regular Incase.

Where to start... It was a long day at work. Then I had
to go to UPS to ship a bass. I finally got home
and was able to spend some time with the AC.
It arrived in perfect condition... I was a little worried...
I hate shipping a bass in a gig bag.:eek:

So far its amazing. I love the vintage tones in this bass.
It sounds killer active or passive. I need more time
to find out what she can do.
Fit and finish is...flawless. The Trans white
finish is VERY nice as is the Indian Rosewood board.
It has a Bada$s bridge like Nicky's. Unlike Nicky's
the sting height was to high. I had to lower it some.
It plays great now.
I can't wait to use it with the band tomorrow night.
Anyway here is a bad pic. No pic, no bass right?
I'll take better pics this weekend.

Hope you don't have a nitro finish like I THINK you do, Tom.....It spells trouble with Sadowsky's portabag..........visit his website for details.........

glad I called Jimmy about this one. WOW!!:hyper:

Nicky, congrats on your Alleva! It looks great...and I
KNOW it sounds great too.;) Jimmy was so busy
and I called him from work so I missed some of the
details. Like the Badass bridge. I think it has a
nitro finish on the neck. The chrome control
knobs have kind of a tort cap on them, they
match the tort guard (very cool). I love the headstock
too!

I'm starting to sound like Tom. :p

Yeah my Sadowsky NYC UV is Nitro too so I had already gotten the shop to send me an insert. It is basically a wrap for the bottom part of the cushion where the bass rests. So far it is working like a champ! I am probably going to keep my Alleva in the Ultra Lite most of the time though just to give it a bit more protection. Rather be safe than REALLY sorry!

At the risk of being run out of town...... I find the styling of these basses a bit confused. I'm not in any way running them down, Paul Turner sounds great on that Jamiroquai video. I keep reading about Jimmy's vintage fender fetish (eg the truss rod adjuster) but some of the bridges don't fit with that vibe, the head stock is... an acquired taste and the pick guard doesn't look right with a cutout for a non existent control plate and five knobs. My personal favourite of the ones I've seen is the 5 knob layout and no pickguard. For me it allows the instrument to take on it's own, more coherent appearance.

Don't flame me guys, I'm just expressing another opinion on the very subjective area of appearance. I'd love to play one of these things and if they sound as good as everyone says I'd own one regardless. :)

These really are old school vintage Fender J and P bliss. The headstock.. well some love it, some hate it. It's Jimmy's take on the 'modified' Fender look. I love it, but as has been posted many times, many don't.

I love the look of the guard with the cutout and no plate, but again, it makes sense that others would not!!

The bridge is a little bit of a disconnect (too modern for the vibe of the bass to me), and Jimmy now has a 'vintage' looking bridge for those who want to keep the bass looking more 'modified vintage'. Also, as you can see from the above pic's, some choose the BadAss bridge, which fits with the 'modified/updated' Fender sort of vibe.

These are definitely unique offerings, both in tone, look and feel, and like anything else, some will love them and some will not!

The cool thing about the Alleva models without guard is that the deep neck pocket and low radius board make the distance between the strings and body perfect for slap style playing (if that's important to you). Many basses without guards have too much space between the strings and body, which is a negative for some slap styles and techniques.
