To all KBPers...What kind of strings are you using on your P? I have Sadowsky Blue Nickles on there now, but feel like there not quite doing it for me.
Also is Jimmy making another pickup for the KBPs, or did I dream this?

I have a set of Jamerson flats on my KBP5 and I totally love them. They have been on there at least a year and are incredible. I don't know anything about an alternative pickup.

BTW - I spoke to Jimmy yesterday about my LM5 order it sounds like it's gonna be ready some time in January around NAMM.

More KBP props. These do all the normal P stuff beautifully and a pleasant surprise is how well it will do a jazzish gig. I opted to take it to a standards gig and was amazed how well it responded to a lighter touch and closer to the bridge. I've never played a P that can burp quite like this.

Yes .. the P5 does burp well. That was sort of the focus when Jimmy and i began talking about this thing.. A P-bass that would burp!.. And growl..
I have used Chromes on mine with very good results but now have a set of DR Hi Beams on it..But really need to try some TIs one day... They are just so expensive i start to twitch nervously when i lay out the credit card. lol..:)
wheww.. but i love the way it sounds..

If you play towards the bridge you can get that slight burpy tone with some growl.. Mine is very light in weight .. perhaps 7 3/4 pounds with a dalbergia FB.

I used it on a live recording last night through the Reddi DI.. the mobile recording guy said he never had a P speak like that .. The notes literally pop off the fingerboard..
I also had my beloved sadowsky nyc pj5 along for the ride but it sat on the stand..... so thanks to Jimmy for doing such a great job..

I find with mine that it is very loud acoustically.. perhaps from the light alder wood body.. i don't know.. but the Pickup is very focused and tight without slop that some P bass pickups have..
I know Jimmy is so darn busy right now its ridiculous... but he and I have talked about doing a new P pickup that will mimic a 65 P in the 5 string config.. It may not appeal to folks that like what the kbp is doing now.. which is that burpy P bass tone that cuts through... time will tell.. i sure its a few months away.. and like i said he is SO busy that i dont want to take his time away from what he is doing right now by bugging him. otherwise he may fall behind.. then we are all messed.. So i would not email him about it... perhaps after NAMM..

Tonight, the LG5 takes Ogden by storm in the blues band. Due to circumstances beyond my control, the LG has only seen a couple gigs over the last couple months, and that's just WRONG. I'm fixing it tonight. :)
