Interesting... then I guess I'm confused as to why it's not on his web site. I've been asked a bunch of times about pricing as well (and have had to redirect as I did here).

^+1 I contacted Jimmy last week about a possible build, and he sent me a price list. From what I understand, He only handles U.S. sales, and then he's got another outlet overseas, and the prices are different. FYI, according to jimmy he doesn't have an MSRP, the prices on his sheet are actual...Pretty cool IMO. Also, he's a really accomodating guy to deal with and makes the wait seem well worth it!

+1...He told me the same thing. I needed to tell him where I was located before he sent me the price list. The fact that he has dealers overseas is probably why why he doesn't have the price list posted on the website.

That bass wont be avail for test drives before NAMM I think.....but when it is, the offer extends to you of course!

+1...that's a completely different pricing structure. That link has a standard bass price with a list of options available for upgrades, and the current pricelist has set models with packages of options (fore example: LM5 Basic, Standard and Deluxe.)

This is the first "60's genre J bass" I've been able to be this totally happy with, and it just completely fires on all cylinders all the time. I don't see that falling out of my grace any time soon.

I got the feeling that the US prices are way lower than the prices I quoted above - they seem ridiculously high to me, and what I expect from a UK dealer, who usually whack on a massive margin, and then sit and wait for some poor mug to pay what they're asking. I think at 50% higher than a Sad, I'll pass on one.
I think it's a shame Jimmy went down that route - you can order a Sad at the US prices, and pay tax etc yourself, and not help to buy the dealer his next sports car!

I actually bought the LG5 back in June and it cost me about $5800 dollars approx. When you factor in the shipping and the 22% Customs charge and VAT etc I don't think it was *that* bad.
If you bought one from the US for $4000 it would cost you close to $5500 to bring into the Uk I think?

Thing is with these basses that I believe they are worth every penny that you pay for them. I have owned 50+ basses including Sadowskys, Celinders, Roscoes, GB, Vintage Fenders, Modulus, Overwater, Valenti, Nordstrand and many others. I now own Two Allevas and they are in my opinion the best basses I have ever owned.
The Sadowskys, Celinders, Roscoes and GB's were all great great basses do not get me wrong but the Alleva's just work for me in every situation so I paid what I needed to in order to get what I needed
