Well..just walked back to the hotel just a few blocks away ..and signed in here to get messages.

Jimmy's stuff was great. All the models were beautiful...and as usual he was great to hang with. I also had a chance to hang at the shop on Thurs and test them out in peace and quiet:). I'm getting what people are talking about here on the thread......!

Its my first BPL and I'm glad I came- the seminars were very informative and fun and different than the NAMM show. My fav was Lee Sklar just talking for an hour about the old session days and giving stories and details - just saw Andrew Gouche :help: ....he was too good , Oskar Cartaya was so musical, last night MeShell killed with her tone, feel , and musical depth. If anyone can make it next year I'd recommend it as its smaller and more personal than a NAMM show and the vibe and energy matched that too.

Yes I am....... Talk about a wonderful experience! I've been on several music-related trips to NY and this was by far the most enjoyable.I had conversations with Matt Garrison, Andrew Gouche, Me'Shell N'degeocello and her bassist (who went to school with me at Berklee), and Mike Tobias. Jimmy's stuff was really a hit in a major way. Everyone had nothing but nice things to say about his basses.

When I first got there, I introduced myself so he could finally put a name with a face. As usual, Jimmy went out of his way amist the madness and at times deafening licks coming out of nowhere to make me feel as comfortable as I could be. He really is a great guy. After it was all over for the night, he walked with me to his shop to show me my bass body(:hyper:), my neck and fingerboard(:eek:) and give me a tour of the place.He even unveiled the long awaited KBP-5 pickup to me :hiding:. He could have easily went home and told me to come back later, but that's just a testiment to how great a guy he is. Even his girlfriend and Marco, who were also there, made me feel like they knew me for many years. When I wasn't at a clinic (+1000 on Andrew Gouche') I was at their table chillin' out and talking to Jimmy about his company and the history. Every question got answered. I really learned a lot. Jimmy's dad came by on the second day and was also a cool person to talk to..very funy guy. He's very proud of his son and rightfully so.I can tell he got a kick outta seeing Jimmy's bass in Nate Watts' hands during the Super Bowl halftime show. I really can't say enough nice things about Jimmy and the gang. I really felt like I gained a few friends on this trip. Anyway....

ON TO THE BASSES!!
(Jimmy will be sending me pics this week) Man o man! What a treat it was to try out so many of Jimmy's basses. He had 2 KBPs, one in Plum Crazy, one in Canary Yellow with a racing stripe. They sounded awesome. So much boom, yet a balanced sound. Ruben Rodriquez's bass was there......a RA-5 with a maple board, black B&B and, you guy's favorite, an Olympic White finish with a tort guard. So many people wanted to buy that bass. Alas........ Jimmy's personal bass, an LG-4 with my fav finish, Candy Apple Orange Juice, was maybe the most popular bass there. It was abosolutely beautiful. Dave from Aguilar had another bass that was there..this time a Sonic Blue one with Dalbergia Negra for the fingerboard and, of course the Aguilar pre. Once people heard that it was basically Paul Turner's bass, it saw a whole lot of playtime. There was a few LMs there too. One guy begged to buy this Silver 4-string so much I thought he was going to cry, but it too was already sold. One bass, that I beleive is STILL up for grabs is a Limited A-C with a Spalted Alder body, Indian Rosewood Fingerboard, and 70s placement pickups. That bass was so punchy but warm, I ALMOST thought of just going home with that one, but then I saw Jimmy's bass and said "no way" to myself. Whoever ends up with tha bass is really getting something special. It's lightweight too. Hard to beleive it didn't get picked up. It won't last long, that's for sure.

All in all. It was a great experience and I loved every bit of it. God willing, I'll be there again next year, rubbing elbows with my A-C in hand.

I gotta admit that I was going to just leave the guard off but that looks pretty sexy with the blocks and the guard on...what do you guys think? Jimmy says it looks great without and I agree but now with this pic I don't know???

She should be here in a couple of days!!!

I like it with the PG! The white pearl accents it very well and works perfectly with the FB blocks! Awesome bass! ... I am only glad it's missing one string, or I'd be even more envious! Nice score!

Thanks! You can't really tell clearly in that pic but the binding is actually a two tone black and white that really comes out with the black and white of the guard! I am going to try and make the pic a bit bigger so you can see it...try this...

This pic shows what I am talking about a bit clearer...I think you should be able to click on this one and it will open into a larger screened pic. Click on that one again and it will open up fullsized and it shows really well...let me know if it works for you guys, it works fine on my machine.

Gotta have the guard... something just not quite right about a J (especially a 'classic' J like this one) without a guard. If it had a fancy top, or even a 'modern' color, OK, but natural ash... gotta have the guard!!!

That looks AWESOME with the perloid IMO!

Thanks...it has a few unique things including the 2 tone bindings, a "secret" finish that the Fender guy won't tell Jimmy how he did it, and the bridge...Jimmy said it is a one off. I can't wait to see it in person!

I didnt take a pic of it but I have to tell you that it was my fav bass of the show......great sounding, looking, and playing instrument! He wasent there ......I almost took it.

Jason Langley was there as well with his A-C Limited. Incredible looking bass. I think the other Limited is still up fpr grabs as well as that Silver LM. Anybody looking to buy and not wait 6 months better do it soon. Also, the rumor of no more Dalbergia Negra left is untrue. He's got about 20 more boards left for 5 strings and about the same for 4 strings.
