I really dig this bass from the Warmoth customer gallery. Love the cream bobbin top. Unfortunately the builder (David Reece, Palm Springs, CA) didn't add any details about the pickup. Novak? Lawrence Born? Hammon? Something else?

I was *finally* able to get these to Juan's studio last week for the man himself to give them a run through, we were able to do a "Darkstar Appreciation" demo vid that i'm hoping turned out well enough to end up online! Will post for sure, they sounded tremendous

Quick question for you guys that have 2 DS/Novaks in your Fender Ps or Js: do you think there's enough room between the end of the fingerboard and the bridge to fit 2 bisonic-style pickups plus a traditional precision pickup? Just dreaming about future custom basses...one Novak bisonic right next to the neck (in the Billy Sheehan Attitude bass position), a precision (Nordstrand?) pickup in the traditional P spot, Novak bisonic in the bridge position.

I can't remember if I've posted this in here or not, but just in case I haven't: Here's my Warmoth G4 (clear coated quilted maple over alder). Status-Graphite carbon fiber Jazz neck (although this one is slightly wider with a larger radius fretboard and more of a D profile than my other Status Jazz neck whcih is thinner, has a smaller radius fretboard, and more of a C profile), Hipshot hardware, and a pair of Fred Hammon Darkstars wired straight to the jack save for one 3-way toggle switch (neck-solo, neck and bridge on full, bridge-solo). It's currently wearing LaBella Deep Talkin' flats and sounds fantastic.

Haven't fully set it up yet for play, but more pics in this thread.
This is my first post to TalkBass, still trying to figure this out. I have always loved the sound of Darkstar pickups and always wanted to put one in my Ibanez ASB140. The price of having one made is really out of my budget but, recently Best Bass Gear got these Guild DS-1 Bi-Sonic Bass Pickups in for $99 so I thought I would try one out. Being a single coil pickup I made sure to heavily shield the inside cavities and ground it to fight any hum. Wired her up and plugged her in and what a difference!!! That thunderous growl that I grew to love from all those Guild bassist from the 60's was now in my hands. I did a quick demo and put it on youtube. Hope everyone likes it. (on a side note The metal emblem on the upper bout is signed by Grateful Dead bassist Phil Lesh and is positioned in the same place as the sticker on his old guild bass.)
