I have a nice 3-1/2 inch strap (from F Bass) on mine, and it feels great! The padding and 3.5" width make my bass feel a couple lbs lighter :D

HEY TOM7!!!

I'm thinking about ordering a new strap for the VF5. I'm leaning towards this one here. The Levy's M29 comfort strap. How about everyone post what strap system they are currently using and why? View attachment 351141View attachment 351142

SO....... I'm waiting on the FedEx man an the anticipation is killing me!

The post office lost my chrome vintage pickup cover. So that sucks majorly as I wanted to install it with double sided tale today. But oh well. It's always something.

I use the F Bass straps. I've found that a wide and soft strap makes a bass feel lighter and more comfortable. Also, a certain amount of friction helps the bass stay in position and the F Bass strap is perfect. I also have one of the Levy's equivalent but it is not as soft.

I also recommend a strap lock in the bottom position so the strap doesn't come off when placed on a stand, but regular strap button on the horn for easy removal when taking the bass off or placing in gig bag. No strap lock on horn end also prevents damage.

My reason could be that my BN6 and the F Bass strap were both purchased new, but judging from the 10-minute struggle (not a joke) I had to get the strap onto the huge strap buttons, I will definitely not need straplocks on my BN6. Maybe later, if the leather stretches a bit.

Does the VF series have the same strap buttons as the BN series?

IT'S HERE AND IT'S KILLIN!

What a great community on talkbass eh. We were discussing the VF trade possibility not days ago and here she be in the flesh...well, e-flesh. Hope she serves you as well as your BN Phil.

....and more importantly, congratulations on the expected little one!

Our latest straps are now a touch thinner at the buttons, ultimately bringing the 10 minute struggle down to a respectable 3 mins : )

We use the same strap buttons on our VFs, BNs, & ACs.

Currently I use a Neotech bass strap. Apparently they make straps under the Sadowsky brand...I like them a lot.

+1, been using the Mega Bass Straps for a while.

Only one very slight issue for me and that is just because of the nature of the material being stretchy, if a bass has any neck dive (my BN5 does not), the strap doesn't compensate for that and let's it do a half gainer.

Neck dive is something I can't deal with at all. My BN5 DID have it but I fixed it by installing the Gotoh ultralight machines, I can't recommend them enough to anyone with neck weight issues.

Hello Everyone!
I would like a number... I actually have 2 F Basses on the way! One is a fretted BN5 from fretspot and the other is a fretless BN5 from Bass San Diego.

Agreed, I have arthritis in my thumb, one of the reasons I bought an Fbass looking for a comfortable neck, and neck dive is a deal breaker. The BN5 I have now, just stays put, no matter how I position the bass and that is WITH the stretchy neoprene strap. :D

I replaced the tuners on a Modulus bass because of slight neck dive. The the resolight's were about 60% lighter than the stock ones that look exactly the same, weird.

I'm fairly new to TB and this forum, but I've had a BN5 since 8/2000. I hadn't been using it for the past few years but started gigging with it again and I'm really enjoying it. Got some new gear coming in and I'm anxious to hear how it's going to sound.

By the way, I would like a "number". I don't know what it is or why I want one, I only know I do. :^)
