Thanks to Marcel and George for putting up with me, all the phone calls etc..LOL...seriously great bunch of guys to work with!!...It is an incredible journey picking out woods and other materials for the bass...I cant praise them enough!!

George will start construction some time after NAMM.

Natural Gloss Nitro
Neck Through
Fretted
Guatemalan Rosewood Fingerboard
1pc Solid Walnut Body (with alder core)
Walnut Top (includes matching
headstock, pickup covers, and pickup shells...use Alder
veneer between shell and Walnut veneer)

Ash Neck 5 pc with black veneers
FTot inlays
16.2mm string spacing
A Style Bridge
Exposed Pole PUs
Black Hardware
17"-22" fingerboard radius
Inset Strap locks

This will be another master piece from FBASS!!!...cant wait!!

Its no wonder why I've sold all my other basses and only play FBASS!!

Great article about George Furlanetto that all club members should definitely check out. The article starts out talking about Kevin O'Leary of Shark Tank, then moves on to more interesting content. :smug:

"Hamilton used to make many consumer goods. Tires, tractors, laundry detergent, vacuum cleaners, Lifesavers, fridges, Studebakers. All long gone.

"But for 35 years, Furlanetto has been making guitars for a select slice of consumers around the world. His guitars start at nearly $4,000 and can climb to several times that. "

Hamilton's secret guitar maker to the world

The scary thing about that article was the fact that sales were down by 50% and George almost folded. Things looking better now;) Jim

Happy Christmas and New Year to you too.

I know what you mean about selling everything else an playing only Fbass. I'm almost there too.

Two questions about your bass.

1. Why the tighter string spacing? Do you have other basses with that spacing?

2. I see more guys are going for ash necks over maple these days and have often wondered what are the pros/cons of ash necks over maple?

Tom
I find the tighter spacing so much easier to work with...my Custom AC6 (Odin) is at 16.2mm...great for chording work. My prof (Stuart Steinhart...FBASS player) has all his custom F's at 15mm...that's whom got me really hooked on FBASS's

The Ash Neck is something new to me and FBASS, if I am not correct...I will be the first to go with a thru Body designed Ash Neck....There shouldn't be any difference in stability...but I think there will be a huge difference in Sonic transference(tighter response, increase in sustain)...Without changing the FB to something brittle (ice picky) sounding....this is purely speculative at this point. According to Marcel and George the Ash Neck weights in at the same as a maple neck.
But with the combination of all woods combined ...this should be the bass that currently fills the void in my FBASS arsenal....I consider my AC6 to very (for the lack of a better term)...HiFi... and I wanted this bass ( The Wallace)...to be ground shaking ....All extremely dense woods...this bass should resonate like nothing else.

With all the Science jargon aside...the Ash Neck will just be plain old Groovy!!!

Very cool. It's the classic Janek Gwizdala/Matt Garrison wood combo. Are you doing 34 scale? I think it's shame that Fbass have upcharge for different string spacing and scale.

I am using the same FBASS stock 34.5" scale...
I never realized it was close...fordera uses a standard ebony board and a spalted top and 33"scale...discussing with George and Marcel...really wanted to go with a combination of exacting woods...that's why I went with walnut body and top!!!
I have played the Matt G model, it is a nice bass but could never get use to the 33" scale...and as I play a 6xer....I really need a Low B...not sure how the B wound sound on a 33" scale...

Hey guys. I have a '97 BN5 and from what I understand the pickups and maybe the preamp are different than what is used today in the BN5s.

I had a '96 BN6, those basses have split coil PU's, newer basses have single coils with a dummy coil for noise cancellation. AFAIK the preamp hasn't changed. My new BNF5 has Aguilar PU's which are noiseless.

Sound is a matter of taste, but I really like the sound of the Aguilar PU's...and noiseless is hard to beat. I found the single coils to have a richer sound than the old split coils.

Thanks. Love you videos btw.

Hello fellow club fbassers, I thought some of you may be interested in my FBass BN5. Between my new BN6 and VF5 it's become a bit redundant, but I'm sure someone out there would put it to good use ;-)

I've got one already, thanks, but I'll take your CHOPS! YEOW! :hiding:

LOVED that video. I DARE anyone from this club to watch the video clip without smiling.

Heres a fun pic of the swap that's currently on between myself and Phillip Jordan. He was wanting a rosewood VF5 and I was wanting an ash maple VF, so it worked out well. 60's or 70's, pick your poison.... Which specs do you prefer?
