Yeah, when I ordered my P-IV in 2018 I think I only waited 2-3 months. (I did choose a body that was hanging on the rack already painted). I asked for a matching headstock and was told that would add 10 weeks to my order. That doubled the build time and sounded like an eternity back then so I skipped that feature. If only I knew then how long the wait time would grow!

Anyways, I ordered a J-V recently and don’t care how long it takes! (Natural/transparent body finish so the matching headstock is already a built-in feature! )

Here’s mine from 2016. Body and neck are the same hue and both are definitely darker than clear, much more of an amber/honey color. I love it and wouldn’t change it for the world.

I imagine the wait times are only going to get worse. Like the Fender master builders all with a 5 year wait. The issue is retailers that order many.

Absolutely ZERO affiliation here but I follow this thread. I just saw this bass listed in my local CL.. not sure if it belongs to a member here or not but I've read about the wait times you guys are seeing. I thought this may interest someone.

that’s a beauty. I have one just like it in LPB which what that looks like to. A little pricey but given the hype and long lead times not surprising. Best passive J 5er around!

Man! I ordered the same OTM JV but with matching headstock. Almost 2 years I am starting to really itch . Thankfully I know it will be well worth it. Has anyone in the summer 2020 batch heard from Andi lately?

Hello, guys. First post here. I'm in the process of ordering a Moullon P (and getting ready to wait for a long time). Have always loved their sound. One thing called my attention, though.

I have watched an interview where Tim Lefebvre says his Moullon P gest along very well with pedals. That's great. In the same interview, however, Tim mentions that his bass is an old one, and that YJ has changed a little his approach, going more vintage, looking for a closer to pre-cbs tone.

Can any owner of a newer Moullon P talk a little about how they interact with pedals? That's really important to me.

So I received my Moollon P last December. I've played all types of P's over the years and I'd it plays extremely well with pedals. I always use a pedalboard with at 6-8 pedals and it always sounds great. Comparing the bass to others I've owned or played I'd say the fit and finish of a Moollon is second to none. The attention to detail YJ puts into each instrument is just above and beyond anything I've ever had. You won't regret the wait whatsoever.

My 2018 Moollon does just fine with my pedals (see pic for what I use). I saw an interview with Tim where he said he loves the sound of flatwound strings but only uses round wounds because they interact with pedals better. I’ve found both rounds and flats on my Moollon do well with pedals, just with different flavors.

Should be noted; I use a more subtle approach to effects, so flats work fine for my needs.

SLO you’re a man of great taste. Fifth Gear, 3leaf and phase 90 are some of my top faves I own.

Thanks, SLO. Good info there. I will definitely go with flats. Let's see how they go with pedals for me. Worst case scenario, I replace my old bass' strings with rounds.

Funny, I know how Tim feels about rounds, and I agree completely. But I have two Ps now, one with each type of strings so I don't have to constantly change. I find I don't turn pedals on with the flatwound P. A totally first-world problem to have.

He was saying his early Moollon had a pickup based of a '62, but now YJ models his pickup after his '59 & '60. which are a little less hot. the '62 being a hotter bites/triggers effects better, more so for phasers, flangers and synths.

I’m on vacation in Korea visiting my daughter who is studying overseas.
I took a tour of YJs shop (amazing) and tried some demos in prep for possibly placing an order. A few days later I checked out this beauty at a local shop and pulled the trigger.
