That's certainly one way to alleviate some of the pressure. In every update Andi mentions how often people contact him asking about an update (as I have done once as well, sorry Andi). Also the price increases that were announced last year won't help them until 2025 or something like that when those new orders are ready to ship. By then they must have increased prices at least two more times to account for future cost increases. Doesn't sound sustainable long term.

On a side note, I added this P5 to my collection. It now joins my ‘56. So I totally get the thing about flats on this guy. Love it but had to try rounds. Just popped some NYXL on there. Takes getting used to but I definitely like it. Playing a drop closer to the bridge brings out some really nice mids. This means I need another P5 to have flats and rounds together on stage.
Beauties! La Bella Low Tension flats work well on the PV.

Moollon artist got a deal with Fodera. He received his custom Fodera about a month ago - already has it listed for sale. Back to his Moollons
I have been playing a Fodera for nine years, and dreamed of owning one since 96. Lucked out and found a Classic P in the classifieds a few months ago.
My rationale was if the Moollon wasn’t a good fit I could easily recoup my money. Sad to say the Fodera has only been played a couple of times since the Moollon arrived.
The Classic P with flats is just magical! I will not be parting with the Fodera, apples to oranges it has 70s spacing and tone galore.
It can get a P bass ish sound, but nothing like the Moollon tone and mojo.
Some Moollon love from the Ryman this weekend, as the Tedeschi Trucks Band played a 3 night stand. Brandon Boone’s Moollon sounded amazing - especially when he got a solo on the second night!
If I recall correctly, they built one rosewood prototype back in the day that made it out into the wild. It was mentioned several times before in this thread, maybe a good search can dig it up.
No, just one J-V has rosewood.
Yes. I remember the same thing and did a quick search here typing in “Moollon rosewood” to find Andi’s post. It was the first J-V prototype, and the ONLY Moollon instrument ever made with rosewood. MingusBass is most definitely ebony.
From Andi earlier in this thread regarding the ONLY Moollon ever made with rosewood; serial number “0577 is the original J-Classic V prototype. Surf Green (appeared almost Sonic Blue under bright lighting) with no pickguard, an odd "J-5" penned in by YJ on the headstock, 47mm nut, and most significantly, an Indian Rosewood fingerboard”

No worries, all that matters is that the world accepts that the aforementioned J-V is the only Moollon with a rosewood board. The end
I don't know what else we could say to convince folks.
But I guess it's understandable. If you're anything like me, when most of us think of "ebony", I reckon we tend to mentally picture either something either very dark brown or black, and sure enough it's not uncommon for certain Moollon fretboards to appear "rosewood", even if one does not take the effort to see if a small section will buff into a shine the way that most rosewood strains will, when makassar ebony will mostly look fairly plain and satiny.
But there's a lot going on in YJ's longterm thoughts as well, the wood not just being chosen for its tonal qualities...as any woodworker will tell you, makassar ebony can be highly striated with loads of figuring (something YJ had no trouble sourcing and using early on) or without much color variety in a single piece, and even though customers started intentionally asking for darker boards a few years back, we're pleased that some customers have specifically asked for the more lively-looking stuff as well, since YJ has some amazing pieces that deserve as much attention. Even pre-buffed, you can still see the contrast among different makassar pieces.

Thanks for the info! The more I looked at my fingerboard and the figuring it had the more I was assuming it was just a lighter looking version of Ebony.
Thanks Kenny! I remember your posts about the LTF and I’ll definitely give them a shot one day. I believe these came with Kerly strings. Interesting strings that I was in between about how I felt. Rounds have been on a few days and I’m loving them, but also loved that punch that the flats had and understand why you only throw flats on yours. Hence my need for another PV one day.
I don’t have any recordings of the ‘56 and don’t have a DAW at my place but could probably make a phone recording to get an idea.

I dont remember the actual wear pattern on mine compared to this one. It sure looks similar but wouldn't be shocking to learn that YJ made 2 oly white P5's.
